Maneuver tool questions

By Flavorabledeez, in Star Wars: Armada

Man, that's a title that could completely mean something else outside of this game.

I've got a couple of questions for the community here with regards to the manuever tool:

1) How many of these do you own?

2) What length are they set at?

3) What faction do you usually play?

4) Are there ever an abundance of times when you get frustrated with the ones you have and just wish you had four of these things set at all four lengths?

At the moment, I just have the one manuever tool. It's really apparent at least two would make things easier (one set at full length with the other at 2), but I was wondering how others go about it. I was also curious if preferred factions came into play with this at all. It might say something about the ideal speeds of them.

1,2) I have 4 of them: one for each distance that can be travelled.

3) I play Imperial 90% of the time.

4) See 1,2.

I have 3. Speed 2, 3, 4. I don't see a need for a speed 1 tool because speed 2 works the same.

I play both factions.

So long as my tool is still stiff and not wobbling all over the place, I don't see a need for a replacing it. I've got spares from the other ones too.

Ive currently just got the one but some of the joints wobble so I will be replacing it as soon as I can and might get a 2nd while im at it as I find I usually just use speeds 2 and 3 (assuming its a friendly game and my opponent will let me borrow theirs for any speed 4 moves). Im always nearly knocking things with my current one set to speed 4.

I play rebels currently but want to play both eventually.

I bought a set so I could have all 4. I play imperials to rebels about 70%-30%. They are SO handy. Switching from a twin VSD turtle fleet to an Mc30/sato hit and run fleet means that having the right maneuver stick for the job is almost essential.

I'd advise getting all 4.

I have a 3.

it was a 4, but then my toddler broke it at the time, and I’ve yet to see a replacement in the wild while I’ve had money...

Word for word, this is my answer

4

I honestly thought 1 would be good enough, but bought a 2nd early on. So I had a 2 and a 4...but it was annoying. There are a lot of times where that extra distance just gets in the way or makes you move more ships/fighters around to accommodate it. So I bought 2 more. 1 set to each distance. Especially handy for collisions. I have a bunch of extra pieces now for swapping out joints affected by heavy use.

When you get in those furballs with lots of ships and fighters, having a tool that is just the right size can save a lot of frustration.

I have 4, one for each speed also.

I have a 4 and a 2, and play mostly (but not exclusively) Rebels.

I can't recall the last time I had an issue that a 1 or 3 would resolve that also couldn't be resolved by simply backing off the template by 1.

Just the one tool... I like being able to quickly see what my move will be one more turn ahead of I stay the same speed...

What @Ardaedhel said. Word for word.

Feels like if I want to run a variety of fleets it's still not impossible to just go by a two manuever tool system.

I'll give that a go and then branch out from there if necessary.

I do like the idea of having four rulers with extra joints to replace worn out ones though. Worn out manuever tools are something I hope to have whenever I get the time to play more...

I appreciate everyone's responses. They were super helpful

I have 1 but that's more because i hate the one FFG puts out and no 3rd party has put anything out that I've liked(I've seen one other company, ordered theirs and it turned out to just be 3 speed 1 sticks, right, left and straight. I would LOVE for someone to put out something not terrible for this.

I find your insufficient loyalty to the Empire disturbing. Be sure to enroll yourself in a reeducation facility before the end of the year, or I will find new ways to motivate you.

Word for word, what I said to @Democratus

Regarding the OP:

1) 2

2) @ 2 & 4

3) 100% Empire

4) Not really - certainly not to the tune of feeling like I need to buy another tool.

Try money...

Money would be a new way to motivate me. No-ones tried that, yet.

I have 3 - Speed 4, Speed 3, Speed 2.

I mainly play Rebels.

Been playing since release and my tool is still firm ?

I only field Rebel Fleet during training exercises and during parades of ships captured in the name of our esteemed Emperor. Surely you're not suggesting that I refuse the orders of our glorious and most majestic Emperor. I would hate to have to file a report.

I have a 2, a 3, and a 4.

I play primarily Empire.

I have no number tokens in any of my segments anymore...

Knowing where that ET GSD is going to end up is useful sometimes, though...

You are possibly a traitor for even suggesting that I would do something so heinous. But if you lay off the report, I wil not casually mention your name to the ISB representative over lunch this afternoon.

What I find heinous is the very suggestion that I, a faithful and loyal subject of the Empire, could ever be a traitor. While I may reconsider filing a formal report with the ISB, I imagine that our most glorious Emperor may not be amused when I inform him of your attempted blackmail when I dine with him at the Royal Palace this evening.

<quietly adds the names @Mikael Hasselstein @Megatronrex to the ISB database, under evidence section writes self confessed >

Everyone forgets that loyalty officers exist and have access to ISB records......
