Happy Tuesday, the Rebel scum detained my ship this weekend.
So with just 10 days until ep 8 do you want to see any tie in to Armada from Eps 7-9 or Eps 1-3?
I was detained but I have returned to make your Tuesday better
Who is this? What is your operating number?
(a.k.a. What time zone are you in? It's still Monday here.)

Ah, the "far east".
Oh Tim. I hope they keep Armada clear of films 1-3 and I'm not that enamoured with 7+. Rogue one and perhaps even the new Solo solo outing is ok.

Save for Nova Scotia, which is a half-hour between Monday and Tuesday.
Which part of NY: real NY (IE the rest of the state) or that wretch hive of scum and villainy that everyone thinks is all of NY?
Edited by outerrimrebelI don’t really like either era, but 1-3 over 7-9. Just not enough material in the new stuff. The stuff we have seen is just too big.
I much prefer the sequels so far (let me get back to you on two weeks on that) as movies, but from a ship design perspective--I dunno, I have to say some of those Separatist designs have really grown on me. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the less-stupid prequel stuff in Armada. So like, nothing with the word "Naboo" in the name.
I would much prefer to see designs from episodes 1-3 be used as salvaged/old war ships for the Rebellion and Empire. Not their own factions mind you, but I do think it could be argued how Rebels/Empire got their hands on things, and I quite like the designs.
I couldn’t care any less if we never see any episode 7-9 ships in game. Not enough content there yet, plus I’m not fussed on the designs.
I'd like to see more prequels era ships and squadrons(Venator, V-wings, ARC-170, etc)
Oh God please no!
Anything but greedymouse-verse stuff. Yuuzhan Vong please!

I liked 1-3. I liked 7, and I'm pretty sure I'll like 8. Rouge One was badass. Clone wars rules, and Rebels is great now it's hit its stride. I read the books (old and new), and the Darth Vader comic. I'm that rare breed of fan that actually likes all of what they waste their time on, instead of complaining about one specific part of it.
I still think Jar-Jar was a **** though.
While I never want to see Epic play in Armada,I wouldn’t mind a huge base Raddus and Finalizer. I can definitely see the sliding scale accommodating them.
I also have no problem with prequel era ships. I’m not a big fan of the movies, but the ship designs look fine, and would really fill out fleet building options.
Also also, there are a bunch of Legends ships that would look good on the table.
in summary... they’re all good ships Brunt
Armada will move into Ep7-9 by wave 9 at the latest. Wave 8 is a definite possibility.
The last OT ship was Wave 3, and several of the Wave 1-3 entries never saw screen time. The last squadron from OT was wave 5, but that was 1 out of 8 squadrons. Over half the current ships are Rogue, Rebels, or EU. Even including the EU/legends material, FFG is basically scraping the bottom of the barrel. Sure, there are a few things out there yet, but they are from 1 video game, or were seen in a comic book once 20 years ago.
I would love to see a Venator Star Destroyer, presumably for the Imps (though they did give the ARC-170 to the Rebels in X Wing as a salvaged fighter, so perhaps the same for the Venator?). Beyond that, there are only three clone wars era ships that I can think of - Grevious' flagship which is pretty cool, the Trade Federation battleships, which are kinda stupid imo, and the Malevolence from The Clone Wars, which is a pretty awesome model, but at 4.8km long, it's thrice the size of the ISD, so unless they end up adding a SSD somehow, the Malevolence is out as well. Furthermore, unless they were to introduce a new faction, I'm really at a loss for how any of those ships would fit into the Rebel vs. Empire struggle that Armada is currently covering. As for EP7, I'm not too impressed with any of the capital ships I've seen thus far.. I'll reserve judgement on EP8 until I've seen it at least once.

Don’t forget the recusant-class light destroyer, the munificent-class frigate, the acclamator-class transport, the republic frigate, the hardcell, the Separatist supply ship and the C-9979 landing craft. Not saying they should fit all of those, but they have options.

If there's one ship from the prequels I'd want to see, it's this. I can't put my finger on why, but I love this ship.
This and the ISD-1 downgrade kit have been sitting in my cart from Mel for too long... ![]()
I like the prequel stuff and am pleased with the announced prequel content coming to the game.*
* = Rogue One counts as a prequel right?

I forgot about the landing craft and republic frigate. But if they're going to be making fringe ships that no one really recognizes, I'd rather they stick with the current era EU (Gladiator ftw!) instead of slip into the prequels with fringe ships that are "canon." I mean the Hardcell, seriously?

I think no... I know it comes before the OT, but timewise, I'd simply classify RO as OT due to both being Galactic Civil War, then I'd consider prequels the Galactic Republic Era and NT all the New Republic stuff in conflict with the FO (so post-Jakku)
Rogue one is a prequel. ![]()
It is a movie that was made after the original, but the events occur before the original.
You could probably get at least 6-7 waves out of Clone Wars Veterans:

Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruiser (Small)

Acclamator Class Assault Ship (Medium) [752m]
Venator Class Star Destroyer (Large) [1155m]
Rebel
Trident Class Assault Ship (Flotilla) [88.71m]

There is content (and some visually appealing content to say the least), but your classification feels odd when you think about it.
Sure, you can see a natural flow from Republic ships to Imperial ships. So that makes sense. But you don't have that same connection between separatists and rebel forces.
Beyond that though, the Separatists are the bad guys of the PT, while the Republic are the good guys. But this grouping flips the script a bit doesn't it?
What about commanders? Are the Rebel players going to get to have Grievous and Count Dooku? Do both sides get a Palpatine commander?
This goes for other upgrades. Droid boarding teams for the rebels? Jar Jar as an officer for the Empire? Heck, you'd be putting Jedi, and Jedi Starfighters in Vader's faction, and Obi Wan would be serving with the Empire. That seems odd.
Think of the long term if you include PT and new trilogy stuff. You'd have Republic ships on the Empire faction and New Republic ships on the Rebel faction. Not confusing at all.
There isn't a natural flow from Ep 1-3 to Ep 4-6 when it comes to factions. There is however a natural flow from OT to the new trilogy as the factions as there isn't a major morality flip for the factions.

I think he was focused on war vessels specifically, and not factions. So no Dooku, no Jar Jar, no Grievous. Just the vessels, as military surplus, reconstituted hulks, and left over hulks for out of the way bases to use.
the Big question is, will they keep Armada purely GCW era or expand into different eras. Everything so far has been GCW. If they bring prequel era ships in, the precedent is that they will come in as GCW ships... which means no Clone Wars era personnel. No Grevious, no Dooku, no Jedi Generals. Maybe some of the fighters and droids, just under Rebel and Imperial banners.
I think this is the most likely way we will see them. I don’t think the market is strong enough for a competing CW era Product. A compatible product maybe. An integrated product, absolutely.
No one says the integration has to be clean, just logical. It is logical for the Empire to have stockpiles of Republic surplus. It is also logical for Seperatists cells to team up with Rebel units to fight a common enemy. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Seperatist looked at the Rebels and said, “Told you so. Told you the Republic was corrupt and heading for tyranny.”
