Hey folks - is there any way to use basic HTML functionality on the forums such as tables, images, and background colors? If so, can someone point me towards it? I've been messing around and can't seem to figure out how to make it work.
HTML on the forums
Tables seem to work when you copy and paste them from other websites into your post.
Background colors have their own forum code. Which I totally forgot right now. Was something along the lines of standard html, just in square brackets iirc.
Images are automatically included if you just copy paste them in, though classic bb-code works as well for them.
Does anyone have more info on this? Just fooling around, I haven't been able to get anything to work...
The site is likely filtering most html tags in order to reduce the chance of a cross site scripting attack.

As noted, you can't. HTML is "escaped". You can use "BBCode" (a simplified markup language), which usually replaces the angle brackets with square brackets, eg <b> becomes [ b ] (without spaces). So you can bold fairly easily
Just about everything you should need is in the menu bar, including formatting, images, etc. What exactly are you trying to do that you can't find?
