Defenders and "Blackout"

By CMDR Ytterium, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I want to take a new list to a tournament soon, And I wanted to hear feed back on it,

Test Pilot "Blackout" 31

FCS 2

Debris Gambit 2

Threat tracker 3

AT 2

First Order Vanguard 2

Total: 42

Delta Squadron Pilot 30

Tie X-7 -2

TIE Mk II 1

Total 29

Delta Squadron Pilot 30

Tie X-7 -2

TIE Mk II 1

Total 29

[100/100]

The idea is that Blackout will flank and shoot from behind the rocks, and the delta squadron pilots will joust, despite the low PS, All of the ships will be throwing a lot of dice, and with one or two modifiers.

Thanks,

Ytterium

I don't know if those Deltas will be able to really pull their weight. Sure, they can evade and Target Lock, but at such a low PS, and such a predictable dial, I question their strength.

Blackout here is interesting. Debris gambit for free evades, Vanguard gives you rerolls, then FCS Threat Tracker to get to a better position. Offensively, a little lacking in mods, but with such reduced defense, it could pull off some good things.

I'm always a fan of /x7 Deltas. I haven't played them too much in serious competitive lately, but they've always seemed to do work for me. It's worth considering dropping TIE Mk.II for a bid. Might be right, might not, but it's worth thinking about it.

I'm a little mixed on T.P.Blackout. Threat Tracker/FCS will work best when you're high PS, and PS 7 seems low for it. I don't hate Debris Gambit, but I think I'd be just as satisfied with a focus token as an evade in general. Taking VI to get up to PS 9 for TT/FCS seems like that'd be worthwhile. I don't think the occasional second evade from Debris Gambit will make it worth the cost. My gut says the way to build TPB is to use Trick Shot and Advanced Sensors, (either Primed Thrusters or Advanced Optics), Autothrusters, and Title (points willing). That might be a mistake, however; an over-investment in things TPB already does well. It might not really help against lists you're weaker against, and it might be overkill when you're already going to do OK.

Thanks!

Yeah I thought about advanced sensors, and it seems pretty good, particularly if you are trying to have attacks obstructed. Perhaps advanced optics so that I can keep a mod for offense, and take a reposition? Any other ideas for the ept slot?

Can't go wrong with PTL.

Wired could be interesting on T-rolls with Pattern Analyzer. Maybe even with some sort of stress-absorbing craft nearby for back to back T-Rolls with mods!

I like seeing more people using Debris Gambit. Good on you!

Why not? If triple D can work maybe double D Blackout has potential...?

I’ve flown a delta in nearly all my lists; the low PS makes them great blockers and they are always under estimated.
