Wave 1 Meta, Redux

Really rough sketch of an idea here, but what do you guys think? I'm wondering if IF can breathe new life into the potatoes, or if they're going to continue to be completely outclassed as gunships by CR90A's. I ran the Wave 1 version of this back in the day and it was fun.

I'm thinking 3-red salvos might be right around the sweet spot for IF: you can afford multiple three-red shots on a fleet, and you're getting a pretty good amount of IF benefit in each one (~+.75 damage per shot).

I took Garm because I like him and want him to be good even though he's not. Also I think Garm/Ahsoka could give me a pretty good engine for keeping IF stocked with tokens, freeing up the Pelta to nav.

The Z-95's are for funsies. because I never use them.

I like IF with frigates. I have no clue what objective you would play with that fleet though. Its going to be going second alot, and I dont see many it can really excel at.

Thought about it, then decided to keep you guessing in hopes that a mere description of what I was after would get somebody else to come up with the actual list for me and save me the trouble.

Yeah, I was thinking it could probably pull off Blockade Run. Hyperspace Assault would be fine, though not particularly awesome. No idea on the blue, maybe DT or NH.

Strategic has totally killed the old AF2 standby Firing Lanes.

Indeed, strategic has severly limited objective play for non-strategic fleets.

I never thought i would say it, but ive reached the point that I miss playing intel sweep.

Can I interest you in my tale of sails posting? I did Pelta IF! + Ackbar AFs.

Long story short, IF! was worth it.

Have you considered going 2 AF-As, 1 Cr90 and 1 transport? Adding Toryn far and some blue dice Awings for your screen?

This is just shear firepower. Might be better to drop DTT and an A-wing for GT on all 3.

Garm might be better for all 11 of those tokens though.

On your list I'd drop SA for GT. Then you can kite your opponent instead of going at them.

And fighters would go for Pelta. I would drop CB & QLT and upgrade to AF/A for two blue flak. That allows you to add SFO for each frigate.

They could go for the Pelta, but since it doesn't really need to engage, it will be more/less out of the battle. Would squadrons ignore the frigates on the way to the Pelta?

Pelta itself has blue/black Flak. If the fighters are between Pelta and Frigates they already have a tough time of it.

Then again, I think the big point here is 4 fun not uber competetive....we might be picking nits.

I think personally I’d drop EA to make them As instead. Dare them to go for your killing power.

if any points are spare, throw racks on the Pelta to really punish a squadron.

On the rare occasion I run a Pelta, I like Flechette torpedoes on it, it's amazing how that helps vs squads piling into your lynch pin ship.

A couple of x-wings running protection duty can really keep that Pelta alive.

I would dearly love a 3 potato list to work well. I own 3 and I've been looking at them and lamenting that I probably won't get to put them on the table together again.

I have 3 potato's as well, and I am not sure, but I am pretty positive I have never actually played one on the table.

I've tested with them in vassal, but never ever found a list I liked them in well enough that it made it to the table.

I've flown 3 potatoes and you really want Rogue squadrons with them. If you can keep at long/medium range, you can do well, but the DO NOT like BT/Avenger lists. They can be very strong though.

Meanwhile, I adapted my new potato list a bit.
