Fanatical Kestal

Lt. Kestal: VI, Ion Cannon Turret

Starkiller Base Pilot: FCS, Hux, PA

My idea here is to Fanatical Devotion Kestal and get the ion on the main target of their list then position my other two neatly for maximum effect of attack.

My question though is; what can cancel FD changed hit? If i had that on Lt. Kestal would my focus changed to hit go through not matter what?

Off the top of my head I can't think of anything that would let you cancel the hit. Tokens like Evade and Reinforce add dice results, which can't cancel the hit. So it should go through no matter what.

While that hit is pretty consistantly going to get through, and trigger the Ion effect, your build does have some limitations I can see...

  1. You need to be able to use Hux to get Fanatical Devition, so your Upsilon *needs* to stay unstressed, and get its actions trough.
  2. With Fanatical Devotion, Kestal can't use Focus defensively, which leaves him a bit on the fragile side.

IF Kestal survives to PS6, then you've got a great chance of getting that ion through... either you spend your focus token to convert dice, or save it to cancel non-evade defense dice, as the situation warrants... but I'm concerned that you're investing an awful lot into a shot that only earns you 1 damage and 1 ion token.

Kestal at PS 9 should get her shot off fairly consistently, but it does feel like an awful lot just to push through one damage and an ion token. QD is good, but basically soloing a whole list is a tall order. I've messed around with the idea of Hux's FD on a defender. It's the imperial standard for durable small ship so you don't care quite as much about not using that focus defensively, and with 2 attacks that can potentially both benefit from it, you can really plink away at something. Vessery with a focus action, one from Hux and free target locks can in theory be all kinds of nasty, but you're stuck with an upsilon as light as you can get it and a cheap ace like duchess or omega leader.

I'm gonna second the above comments in saying that, excluding QD's solo capability, this list is something of a one-trick pony. A cool trick, make no mistake! But only one, which can be undone. Not to mention, Devotion and Kestal don't sync up well, as either ability should be sufficient to get the ion through - you don't need both.

Thanks guys. Appreciate it. Ill be switching my lisy up. :)
