AAR : Welcome the Uthuk Tournament at FFGC

Welcome the Uthuk.... by letting them all sit on the bench?

What's incorrect about the Latari Maegan build? She explicitly allows them to take another Sorceress.

So your 4x1 of Rune Golems didn't fare so well, but Brian's 3 1x1's seemed to work for him. How did he use them in his games? Mostly as speed bumps to protect his Deepwood Archers and Kari Wraithstalker?

Something lost in translation? ;)

Long since fixed. I totally forgot about the text on Maegan's card as I was typing in lists.

Yeah the lesson totally was not lost on me as it had echo's of Ben's list in action at Worlds.

He used them in a few ways

1) Speed bumps

2) Victory Token seekers

3) Reaction to plug holes in what might be charge avenues.

It was fun event for sure.

Technically the Death Knights only missed one charge, that was a gamble on if the golems advanced into the terrain or not. Upon exiting the terrain with a shift, they moved forward to collide with the Crossbowmen to take away their ranged attack, but drew panic in the process. It was a calculated gamble, but Hawthorne just had to get 2 more panic and draw Flee in Terror.

Hmm trying to remember @Aetheriac how did you end up with that first panic token? For some reason I want to say you had received it when you went into those woods but completely drawing a blank. I thought you had charged into the woods in anticipation that the Golems were going to be there.

That's what i get for waiting several days before doing the write up!

You are correct @tgall, they charged into the woods expecting the rune golems to be there. I was commenting more on the second part as they did connect with the crossbowmen as intended, just to take away the ranged attack, knowing it would give the DK another panic token.

Ahhh ok, that's the part I got wrong. I'll go back and fix that! Thanks much

Awesome write up by the way. I need to keep better track of my games going forward. I forgot to take any pictures of the second game. :(

My list is a bit cheesey. I have the 4x1 deepwood archers w/ tempered steel (because of hawthorne + kari) which output 8-12 damage a round consistently, so I put two 1x1 Golems out front to block with. In this particular case i was defending the 'bomb location', so I knew the opposing units would be rushing in. The other reason I like the 1x1 Rune Golems, is the white-reform modifier. This allowed me to put a RG out front and turn it to a 45 deg angle so if it DID intercept, my 4x1 cavalry would have an easy side flank. Just remember, when you have a nice side flank presented to you, don't dial in the +1 armor out of excitement!
