Happy Saturday to all of you eagerly awaiting the release of Star Wars Legion.
To wile away some of my wait, I have constructed some extremely cheap fun and simple terrain to use when Legion comes out. An alternate title for this table could also be wino terrain. I basically took some glue, cardboard, old sprues from my 40k miniatures, some little bits of Styrofoam I had lying around, some empty K-cups from my Keurig, and the trays that wine bottles are shipped in to make a plethora of terrain pieces that cost me less than 15 USD so far and that was mostly just on glue. They also didn't take any fancy tools. All I used was a pair of scissors, a ruler, a box cutter knife, and one of my sprue cutters to cut the sprues. These are still a work in progress. Next steps for me are painting to get those corroded metal and rust colors you see on Raxus Prime and adding more Star Warsy symbols etc to drive home that this comes from a Galaxy Far Far Away. I've also thought about trying to find some models or old action figures of Star Wars ships to tear up and put in with these other terrain pieces, but that would be where cost starts to grow. Without further ado. Let us begin.
These are the wine bottle trays that I used to make the bulk of what you see.

I decided to use these as a starting point because there are a lot of interesting shapes in this from the squares, rectangles, and rounded pieces. I also like the color and texture. It reminded me of the grayish brown metal in the Raxus Prime map in Star Wars the Force Unleashed. Basically I took these trays, cut them up, and glued them to pieces of cardboard and Styrofoam to make the pieces below.
I started with these little barricades. I put rectangular pieces of foam down on pieces of cardboard and just stabbed sprues into them and covered them in pieces of the wine trays. I used a Tau Fire Warrior for reference to judge the size for them. They make a nice little squad-sized hiding place when put together.

I was able to find a few cheap Star Wars miniatures for the rest of these pieces. I took the basic idea from these smaller barricades and built a large panel with some barricades around it as a center pieces for the table.

I wanted to build something that could act as a bridge if I decided to make a chunk of the map impassable so I built this bridge out of a couple cardboard panels, K-cups and some of the shapes out of those trays.

And as an added bonus it's tall enough for miniatures to go underneath it as well.

Here's a close up of the big wall of junk barricade in the background of the first picture:

And last but not least, here are some bird's eye views of the table as a whole:

Sorry for the long post, but it's mostly pictures. I hope you enjoyed them. I had fun making them for sure and I'll definitely keep making more in the future. Any suggestions, constructive criticisms, or ideas to expand on it are very welcome. Enjoy your weekend and may the Force be with you all.
