I am not into Facebook, hope the link works. Also, cant find anymore today, but yesterday I read in there that Alex said that it will likely be 5 games of Armada on Saturday, and a cut (no specifics) on Sunday. Thats reaction to criticism that it was too much, last year.

I am fine with this also, but I have no criticism whatsoever to last year, I loved the challenge of that many games, was just great and befitting a tourney of that tier. I can play three game stores at home :P

Edit: I bought my Expo tickets, yesterday. Tourney entry tickets not yet online.

I’ve already booked my hotel room.

in Coventry, because the costs are already ridiculous in Brum

I also booked a hotel. Ridiculously, I guess ;)

Looking forward to see you, Dr!

I am thinking about attending this year. Any adviace from those who played last year? Is it really that bad and I should book hotel asap? I understand I have to buy two tickets seperatly: for Armada Tournament and for Expo?

About the hotel. The event is near the airport. But you can easy take a hotel in Birmingham. The trains are going in 5 min interval and are really cheap. I was afraid at first how to get to the event from downtown. But this was really no problem.

And yes, basically you need two tickets. But the tournaments were not in the same hall as the UKGE. So it might even be that you do not need to buy both unless you want to visit the UKGE as well.

Here's the link to the schedule so far:

I attached the pic as well.

Fellow European Admirals, schedule is up on the UKGE website. No ticket buying yet, though.

Summary: We start Saturday 9.30 am, finish 11.30 pm (64 participants max, £18), Sunday 9.30 to 7 is then the cut of 4.

Pretty much every system competes on Saturday, but Xwing day 1a would be the Friday.

Do I need to buy ticket to Games Expo if I'm there only to play Armada?

Yes - we did last year and i don't think its different this year.

There are some kind of event for the participants of Armada not playing the finals? (Armada events)

there was a nice team tourney, last year, yes.

If I can't make worlds I'll come here instead.

you can expect a fantastically relaxed and comraderly (lol, no,idea if this is even a word, but you get the meaning) atmosphere.

I thought Birmingham wasn't in Europe anymore? :P

Thats what they said about the European City of Culture competition too ......

Except that's funded by the EU/EEA - and is an EU project.

Now if the EU were funding/running the European Championships, sure. But sadly I don't think the EU Government is that interested in miniature table-top games. Hmm. Could it count as part of culture? Maybe there are some EU funds available for it somewhere...

I can't talk specifically about the EU in that regards... But on Government: But I certainly managed to get State (Victoria) Government Funding for a Gaming Club under the auspices of both a Cultural Benefit and an Educational Grant (After School Youth Program).

If I'd have gotten it up to 150 registered members, there could have been federal funding as an "alternative school program" as I was keeping youth off the street for a handful of hours twice a week.

Ticket booked for this, and should have a slightly larger Scottish contingent than just the 2 of us that managed Euros last year! The day 1a/1b split on X-Wing should help with this too I'd have thought.

Good morning, afternoon and evening.

After an enjoyable time last year and regrettable not being able to attend many events since, and missing out on the next Nationals as I will be on my two week cruse :) (it's a hard life) I've sorted out the time away from the wife and the kids to enjoy another Expo woop woop. This year I've made arrangements to stay in a hotel around the corner so no issues of No Pillow this year or running from the tent to the loo in the pouring rain or turning up late to my opponent looking the worse for ware. It also means no driving so I can have a beer!!!. The sad news is I will most likely not be playing Armada :( but I will be bringing my ships to play if anyone wants a random match Friday or Sunday! Maybe even some cap the station if people feel daring.

On a side note I expect to see you all for breakfast!!! We just need to decide on which day....

29 tickets gone by now, 35 available.

So there are 64 slots, and a 4 player cut on Sunday?

Do I read it right?
