Writing haikus and love sonnets to your chosen girl or guy.

@Darth Sanguis - do you have the Streetsboro Ohio lists to feed to @Baltanok

From Fargo, didn't get all the details, perhaps others can jump in and add their inputs. Also for those of you who might be newer, sorry for the all the abbreviations, but it's 2 AM and I'm not writing a book...Some lists may not be complete. We had 14 players, 6-7 rebels.

1st: Josiah Burkhardsmeier (complete)

Total: 385

2x TRC90 with ET

TRC90 with Madine

I went first every round as no one I played was doing token shenanigans....I played against 3 different predominantly hammerhead fleets with Dodonna, Cracken, and Riekan. So my BT avenger was a little overkill. lol. But surprisingly my sqns took on bigger blobs and did excellent. Except when I forgot in my first game about Jan Orrs and intel...

It was an outstanding event Schmitty very professionally ran! I could have not asked more. North west has an awesome group of guys and it was fun conversing with them! I am looking forward to my move up there and help continue to grow that community! Just wanted to Add Spokane represented well with some high placers! So anyone in the NW is welcome to come down to Spokane and get some real competition!?. We welcome you and love to have you!

also @Tirion we need to stream our grudgematch at my place when I make the move!!

11th Place Aaron in Fargo.

My list did well (considering my skill level). It went 6-5 and 5-6 against two very different achetypes, but fell prey to some fantastic Dangerous Territory use by 3rd place @Palanthas . I could have likely disengaged to get a 5-6 or 6-5, but chose to gamble our fates on an MC80H to MC80L brawl. His parking on the station and my parking on some debris taught me a deeper respect for obstacles. :(

Sam had approximately:

I'm a little surprised to see no one was using Marek / Jendon. A good chunk of Imperial fleets I've seen in this area appear to have that as an auto include, particularly with Sloan. Does anyone have insight or light recaps on how Josiah's matches went?

Since this is a data thread, I'll try and just keep it brief here. I faced Ian Cross, Dong Lee, and Thomas Gall in that order. I was first player all three games, picked Advanced Gunnery against Ian an Dong, Station Assault against Thomas. I used the TRC90s to whittle down the ISDs, while Admo came in for the killing blow. Against Dong's Motti ISD, it took a final round of shooting by a TRC90 and double ram to finish it off.

In all my games the ISD's didn't get anything other than long range shots out the front due to Madine's ability to keep ships exactly where you need them. Shara and Tycho where able to buy a little time with the squads, but mainly when fighting the Sloan lists, she ended up dying early enough to severely reduce the bombing capabilities of the remaining squadrons. The quasars ended up following the ISD's a round or two later due to focused TRC90 fire. With the exception of one, the Gozanti's were all killed with ramming.

I ended up at 30 tournament points with a 1,167 MoV.

I faced Sam in the second round, he had Most wanted for his red objective and contested outpost for his yellow. His squads were a jumpmaster, Mauler Soontir and Zertik, I think everything else looks accurate. Fun guy to play against.

First of all, I just want to point out that I encountered not one but two ACM-equipped Demolishers . :) #ACMLyfe

Also wanted to comment on a particular development that I've seen in the community. If somehow you've been living under a rock and haven't seen any of my related rants: I love the MC30, I brought 4 of them to this, and I have been playing them since they released and am thus intimately familiar with their strengths and weaknesses. I historically have seen most players make various suboptimal decisions when opposing them, because of the unique nature of some of their attributes (redundant defense tokens, extreme disparity between hull and shield values, and so forth).

In this tournament, all three of the players I squared off with made very good decisions vis a vis attacking MC30s, and I wanted to highlight that. Great play on Brandon, David, and Chris's parts!

For example, Brandon brought a similar fleet to mine.

It was super crappy luck that we got matched on round 1, and then he got another mirror match against another local on round 3 too. Out game was a giant pillow fight that he won by trading Mothma's JL for my Landmothmonition while aslo preventing me from pinning down Foresight for the follow-up. He did exactly what I tell people to do to take it down: decide immediately if you're going to kill it or ignore it; then, hit it early, even if you're not getting any immediate payoff, and hit it consistently to keep pressure on even it's just with low-quality shots. You'll wear down shields, wear down defense tokens. Yeah, it's got a lot of both, but think of those defense tokens as the ship's hull instead, because once they're gone, it will die fast. He got a couple of rogue shots on her turn one that got damage through the rerolls, then he kept the pressure up on turn 2 with squadron activations to push the Rogues early, and finished with a piddling long-range TRC90 shot that I had to either eat on the hull or burn an evade on. So by the time Admonition was engaged in the fight, it was low enough on defenses that I couldn't reliably count on weathering an opening shot from either of his MC30's, severely limiting my tactical options with her. It forced me to activate Admonition early, opening up space that allowed Foresight to slip away from the 5-6 arcs that I'd had trained on her. So, very well played to Brandon, and it's a real shame the matchups were not in his favor again.

Great event, I had a really good time, and many thanks to @shmitty for running it! Now if only there was another Regionals within 1000 miles that he could've played in too... ಠ_ಠ

@JJs Juggernaut

I was the hooligan running Triple Arqs with SFO, Cluster Bombs, and DTT, with 2 Raiders, one OE and Flechette, the other ER OE Kallus QLT, with Zertik, Cienna, Valen, and Howlrunner

Ian Cross got 6th, Tom Gall got 9th, I got 10th, Ben Johnson with the MC80L and MC80 HO was bottom of the list I believe.

@Tirion , this is why you listen to me and not @shmitty .

For everyone's edification: "play what you've practiced with" is a good rule of thumb in deciding on what to play at Regionals, but many people forget the second clause of that rule: "... unless you've been practicing with something terrible like a 2-activation Garm Pickle/Liberty horror."

i've been led to believe that Garm is so overpowered that he doesn't even NEED MC30s, that's how good he is. I hear Garm once looked at an ISD and it exploded just on the power of his mustache alone.
