Question: Reaper's Scythe + BrightBlaze

By jdogcrane, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

So it says on the BrightBlaze card, "This familiar is treated as a figure. It may perform 1 Melee attack during its activation using the dice and abilities of a Magic weapon you have equipped."

Weapon equipped: Reaper's Scythe: Each time you defeat a monster with this weapon, recover 1 Heart; Surge: +1 Range"

Question: Does my BrightBlaze recover 1 heart or does my BrightBlaze use my weapon and heal my hero?

Thanks!

--Side Note: Since the Reaper's Scythe is ranged, does that mean my bright blaze cant use it? Or does it just take the ability's and dice but perform a Melee attack?

P.S: sorry for this question, I can't seem to find firm rules about this specific thing anywhere.

(Probably because I don't know where to look.)

Brightblaze performing the attack would heal itself, not your hero.

He can only perform melee attacks. I don't think that wording prohibits using a ranged weapon for a melee attack, but that's pretty odd. Normally, melee weapons only perform melee attacks, ranged weapons only perform ranged attacks.

Thanks for the quick reply! @Zaltyre The way I see it is that it's saying the bright blaze may "perform 1 melee attack... using the dice and abilities of a magic weapon"...that my hero has equipped. So what I'm suggesting is that it's not actually using the weapon but only applying the abilities and dice to the bright blazes melee attack. Because if the card wanted to imply that the bright blaze is using the weapon it would have said something like this: "It may perform 1 Melee attack using the weapon you have equipped."
