2) E. I think it’ll be best as a filler or with three as an alpha stroke.

5) Yeah, I think stressbug will be decent.

6) Nah. 15 points for a free action seems excessive. It might make the cut, but I don’t see it winning.

7) ...yeah? I think? It’s a decent cheapish bomber.

All my predictions are based on the assumption of "simple is better", that X-wing seems to naturally gravitate to lists that are just easier to fly via action-independent mods and especially turrets. Lists that require better flying, especially due to just having arcs to worry about, may have a higher skill ceiling but will put too much pressure on even the most skilled player over the course of X rounds. Sure, they can theoretically win, but not reliably so.

Predictions for regionals of 30 or more persons:

1) What ship will win a regional (with 30+ participants) first?

  • A) Resistance Bomber (<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Miranda)
  • B) Gunboat (powerful but requires actual planning to fly; is not a turret)
  • C) Sheathipede (Maybe? Can't imagine what list it'd go with)
  • D) TIE Silencer (Maybe? Personally unimpressed, but of the available ships it is the only one with high enough PS to be easy to fly against the very easy to fly meta)
  • E) Kimoglia (it's just a B-wing; turrets will wreck it)

2) What will happen first with the gunboat

  • A) A four generic gunboat squad will take a regional!!! (requires too much thought to fly, no HLCs and therefore no real punch)
  • B) Gunboats won't win a single regional (Sadly possible, but if deadeye SCURRG could do any sort of well...)
  • C) Vynder will win a regional (Vynder is stupidly overpriced for his incredibly situational ability, he's almost Rhymer-tier)
  • D) Karasabi will win a regional (More possible than Vynder, though still doubtful. He doesn't bring any sustainability over similarly priced lategame ships, only makes sense as another high-damage HLC boat)
  • E) Other: 1-3 generic gunboats will be in a winning list. (Here's the strength of the boat, high damage burst that can also be sustained after expending LRS and crackshots)

3) What version of Kylo TIE Silencer will win a regional (with 30+ participants) first?

  • A) Push The Limit (PTL sensors is about the only "special" thing the silencer does, because it has a uniquely powerful dial and access to primed thrusters)
  • B) Veteran Instincts (Not seeing it over similar ships that already exist and are much cheaper, ala Quickdraw and Vader. Still, it's PS 11?)
  • C) Other EPT (Not seeing anything outside PTL or VI being used on these things)
  • D) Kylo wont win a regional (Quite possibly)

  • A) You Betcha!
  • B) Uh...No (Blackout is my favorite Silencer at first glance, but his ability simply requires too much good flying)

TL;DR:

1.) Gunboats are your new deadeye SCURRG

2.) Silencer is the only thing with high PS enough to reliably fly against the meta

3.) Resistance bomber will NEVER be used over Miranda

4.) Kimolgia is just ****** by turrets

5.) Can't fathom where the Stressbug will go., but I believe its docked ability is a complete joke

4) A. I feel people are already figuring out how to fight Kylo while a different build with the generics in particular might catch someone by surprise.

5) A, Yep. It's cheap and versatile.

6) B, nah, the Attack Shuttle's benefit is better. There are applications for the docked Phantom II, but I don't know if it is enough.

7) A, probably.

8) A, Torani.

  1. thought silencer would get the first regionals
  2. called 3 generic boats, but thought they'd be linked HLCs
  3. called PTL kylo
  4. Called no blackout win (I still like him though :( )
  5. had a feeling non-docked sheathe would take a regionals (had no idea how dumb they'd be)
  6. docked phantom-2's benefit is bad and nowhere near the first phantom, anyone could tell at a first glance
  7. called no bombers winning regionals (Crimson spec is more fun than I had anticipated)
  8. completely whiffed on Kimoglias being in a regional winning list

and i completely forgot I posted here :P

the common theme here, though, is that all the ships in this wave were better than I thought they'd be (except the resistance bomber, of which only Crimson Specialist is better than I thought he'd be)
