Not a lot of excitement for this ship, especially in the face of gunboats and Silencers, and given the challenging dial and the difficulty of setting up the extreme jank of the Bullseye Arc. So my thought was to put PtL on the buggers, equip an Unhinged Astromech and maybe the title, and leave them rather cheap and cheerful. At least until such time as I figure out how to fly them, ha ha. Pair them up with someone scary, like Fenn and Thweek, to make them easier to sneak into position. What does the forum-mind think of this?
Kimogila thoughts
My first line of though goes along the line of:
Torani with VI + Title + long range scanners. Starting at 29 points, it's bare bones, but could be a nice little ace killer at PS 10.
Dalan Oberos is almost the same, except that the long range scanner must be removed to make full use of his ability. Maybe fit a scrambler missile in there with a R5-TK. You start by taking a target lock on a low agility ally and if the enemy arc dodges both then maybe firing the scrambler and hitting yourself you also hit him. I'm not sure whether its worth it or not.
Any of them could also take seismic torpedoes along with R4-E1. Destroy that asteroid cover, even after doing a k-turn or a hard turn and clear the stress if need be. There are worse ways to use an action.

It's a single arc, 1 agility ship in a high PS turret meta. It wont last long, so its just a missile carrier.
The only hope I have for any of those pilots is Torani cause you can VI her to 10, and have a nice alpha strike with her along side Nym and Ndru or Nym,Fenn. Nobody is gonna choose to lose tokens when a couple more missiles are breathing down your neck, and they cant spend them on her attack in a bullseye arc, so her missiles do +1 dmg basically or else she is like a super Wes Janson for your squad.

That's pretty much my take on them too. It's probably less durable than a Kihraxz since it loses an agility to gain a shield. There is a tried and tested combo though: Deadeye-R4-Chips-Missile/Torp of choice.

single arc, no turret, small base.
Deadeye scurrgs arent lighting up the meta, I dont expect multiple Kimoglias too either.
I will probably mess with something like this:
Karthakk Pirate (24)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Karthakk Pirate (24)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Collision Detector (0)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Havoc (0)
Torani Kulda (27)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Enforcer (1)
Total: 100
Upon further thought, I'm thinking of something like this:
Torani Kulda — M12-L Kimogila Fighter 27
Veteran Instincts 1
R5-P8 3
Long-Range Scanners 0
Enforcer 1
Ship Total: 32
It's role would be an Ace killer, which means that the rest of the squad must be able to handle turrets. What I think would happen: fire on the ace with primary weapon, most likely cause a lot of damage, force them to take extra damage or lose tokens, force them to think twice before attacking back and getting a stress and potential additional damage.
Many good ideas here. I look forward to trying them next week!
My currently dominant thought for them goes like this:
Torani Kulda
VI
Harpoons
GC
EM
Scavenger Crane
Title
Unhinged
Jostero
Expertise
Harpoons
Scavenger Crane
GC
VT
Pulsed Ray Shield
Vaksai
Black Sun Ace
Deadeye
Harpoons
Scavenger Crane
GC
VT
Pulsed Ray Shield
Vaksai
This list has a crazy initial joust, and multiple ways to do such a harpoon barrage again. Loads of crits to trigger harpoons, and the Harpoons plus Torani provide plently of opportunity for Jostero to proc.
I would agree that I doubt these guys'll be a viable triple list, but who knows?
After playing against them last night, I think the bullseye arc is really really good, its just on an awful ship. Im not sure the bullseye arc can make it "tourney" top tier worthy, but casual games it will be a lot of fun.
Dallen Oberos with PTL and unhinged is scary for ships PS7 and under, being able to b-roll, focus and get his TL with his bullseye ability, and if the enemy fires back, they get stressed from enforcer. Now he has focus,TL and opponent cant spend tokens. All this action and token denial is from that bullseye arc. Crazyness. It's really strong, and if Ryad and Vessery were still a thing, he would be their poison. This feels like they came up with this idea when defenders were top meta, and now its released and they arent. Instead its turrets and alpha strikes and high PS, everything that annihilates low agility, slow ships like Kimogila.
I was playing Super Dash and I had to move first versus Dalen Oberos. Dash was getting chewed up until I swung around and Dalen got sandwiched between my ships and in two rounds was destroyed.
In another game I played against Torani with VI and Harpoons. I was flying Miranda/Ghost (both with bombs) and Torani got dealt with quickly. The ghost was pounding her with primary, then finished with a plasma missile. It was the enforcer title that was cool though, as the ghost had a stress, and I had to choose to get a second stress to attack her, meaning I couldnt drop bombs next round. Also, I took an evade action with the ghost and couldnt use it against the bullseye arc.
Im wondering if this ship should have been 3/2/4/2(3?) statline instead of 3/1/6/3. It would prefer range 3 for extra die, with the bullseye arc extending the distance to prevent enemies from spending tokens.
I think Dalen has potential, being a cheap attanni carrier with beef and an ability to get TL+Focus, and with unhinged has a crap-ton of greens, and maybe with enforcer, even stress the enemy. He is priced same as a scout.
Dalan Oberos (Kimogila) (25)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
Fenn Rau (28)

Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)
Asajj Ventress (37)
Lone Wolf (2)
Latts Razzi (2)

Edited by wurmsPlayed a few rounds of Kylo/RAC against 3 kimogilas and I was thoroughly unimpressed. The decimator was caught in a bullseye arc more often than not and it made 0 difference, while the tie silencer literally flew circles around torani and the enforcers. All 3 had PTL, unhinged and a few other upgrades. One game that was swapped out for deadeye and r4 aggromechs, didn't change their combat potency that much. The bullseye arc is definitely strong, but the kimogila isn't maneuverable enough to make the best use of it. Torani with some other wingmen, maybe even some way to bring in ions or tractor beams would make it a lot more imposing.
I am really enjoying the ship actually. The Kimogilia is awesome and sorta easy to bullseye big bases. A simple ship that just wants to joust and roll dice!
Edited by Boom OwlIm looking at ketsu and kimogila at ps9 to be able to tractor stuff in to the arc.
Tried this last night, and it was...... ok. Felt like it was missing something though. Maybe change the ordinance around a bit, I don't really know.

Mathematically speaking, 8 HP on 1 die (Kimogila) is a bit tougher than 5 HP on 2 dice (Kihraxz). Crit susceptibility matters, but both scum Ks are probably about even as far as that goes, with their low shields. Upgrades can make a difference, like PRS or Glitterstim, but on paper without upgrades, the Kimo is a hair tougher.

you may find that will be a disappointment.

It feels like it was meant to be a counter for token stacks for sure. X-7’s, Manaroo, Antanni. It’s also looking at large base ships. The Bullseye Arc too small to effectively get Small based ships too too often. I can also see it wanting to be a formation breaker. Swarms certainly should be wary, and things like FSR’s and other Biggs, Wookiee tricks wanting to be close to each other or in line and flying in formation.

Not much, though. That's why I think I'd be hesitant to field a squad of 3 rather than 4 (or 3 and two light Scyks for extra warm bodies)
Tried out 2 lists tonight to see how the mechanic works.

flew the tractorunit in pair with Torani and moved stuff in to the bullseye. Eaven got a double beem after a ketsu bump/tractor.
A ps11 Harpoonunit would smack theese lists to nothingness.
But tractoring stuff in to bullseye left a sweet taste in my mouth that I surley want to try again.
got 2/2 wins.

Of course it won't make a difference when attacking a decimator. They have no evade dice to modify.
This is something I really want to try, as soon as I get my hands in 3 of them....

First round i took a ship out before he had a chance to fire. But then i got the crit that lowers weapons value by 1 and instead of just reloading and firing harpoons i tried to repair and failed 4 times. Then jostero had agility reduced by 1.
I felt it was a very winnable game but i took too long trying to repair crit. If i didn't spend 4 rds trying to repair i could have won. I always roll bad against those crits lol
2nd game with a different list i took out OL quick. Then he took one of my ships and i took his 2nd but teroch moved before kylo and was outmanuevered and gunned down
I rly like the bullseye ark and the astromech and toranis ability works well with jostero. I don't think its very competitive in a tourney but still good fun
Been looking at random tricks you can pull when spending 2-4 points to arm up a generic Kimi Raikonnen.
It's surprising how many potentially nasty dirty tricks there are:
-
Anti-Shield Ordnance
- Long Range Scanners, Plasma Torpedoes
-
General Purpose Ordnance
- Long Range Scanners, Cruise Missiles
-
Control Ordnance (Maneuver)
- Long Range Scanners, Ion Pulse Missiles
-
Control Ordnance (Tokens)
- Long Range Scanners, Scrambler Missiles, R5-TK
-
Control Ordnance (Stress)
- Long Range Scanners, Flechette Torpedoes, Black Market Slicer Tools
-
High-G Demolitions
- Seismic Torpedoes, R4-E1
-
Intensify Forward Firepower
- R4 Agromech, Contraband Cybernetics
-
You Know When You've Been Bullseyed
- Long Range Scanners, R4-B11
-
Do You Really Want To Shoot Me?
- Enforcer, R5-P8
-
The Ministry Of Silly Maneuvers
- Unhinged Astromech, Cloaking Device
-
Ion Kamikaze (A perfect target for Control Ordnance: Jam)
- Salvaged Astromech, EMP Device
Any others people can think of?
I've been having too much fun with the Resistance Bomber, but my Scummy heart keeps calling to me.... And y'all ain't helping! My poor, poor wallet.
I have dreams of running Zuckuss and HLC Genesis Red next to...probably VI Torani.
