Prototype base unit ID token solution.

By TylerTT, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I want transparent bases for my IA collection and I also want to signify what unit things belong to.

So here is a prototype of my solution. I want to change a few things but I also want feedback.

This represents the solution for units (despite having solos on them)

each unit is identified by one of six shapes (so you can have 4 standard and 2 elite) and then unit members are identified by a number of bars.

The extra token goes on the units card to identify the card the unit belongs to and shows what side of the card damage counters are placed for each member.

The token can be flipped to show they it activated.

Solo figures would only have a single shape on their base and a smaller token to match it’s card.

Thoughts? Is anyone making these already? I know team covinate has great tokens but I wanted to rebase things on clear any way.

Cool idea!

But if you flip the token, it won't correctly match the direction of the damage tokens anymore...

Yeah the next version will have the two slot on top and bottom.

You know they give you stickers for this. They go great on acrylic bases and can be removed if need be.

Yeah the stickers are ok I like these more.

I like the idea but part of me thinks the different shapes are superfluous as you could achieve the same effect by simply using 6 different colors.

I'd prefer to have the bars on the rear of the base rather than right up front but hey, they are your figures, not mine. :)

That’s good feedback! Thank you.

The shapes are a unnecessary if the unit bars are painted unique colors. Unless a player is color blind then you could match each shape to a color for double coding.

my intent with the colors on these bases was to differentiate faction. (Red for rebs gray for imps and green for Mercs)

But I’m realizing this was mostly an unexamined carry over from how I painted my bases before.

Having just played the app I’m thinking colors are how FFG wants to do things so I may abandon the shapes in favor of color coding alone as no one I play with personally is color blind.
