Dice Distribution Pseudo-confirmation.

By Deathseed, in Genesys

My LGS has their copies of Genesys in as of today. And while I've not picked mine up yet, I did take the opportunity to compare the dice symbol distribution chart from page 18 of Star Wars: Force and Destiny with the chart in Genesys, and I can confirm that, minor aesthetic differences of the symbols aside, the distribution of symbols and dice facings are completely identical.

Assuming those charts also directly coincide with the facings and distributions of the physical dice, it seems to confirm that if you already have Star Wars dice, they are effectively perfectly usable for Genesys (even the symbols are not so drastically different that it's more than the work of a scant moment to process which symbols coincide with which between the two games).

I'd have taken pictures, but the idea slipped my mind.

My dice came the other day, and I actually did a side-by-side comparison of Genesys dice with Star Wars dice. They have the exact same distribution.

And thus we have corroboration and confirmation!

HUZZAH!

My Genesis dice and book probably won't arrive til Monday, so I'm going to use that to cast doubt over the whole process.

Not because I have concerns about your methodology. No, nothing like that. Just pure spite that I'm missing out. :(

Hah! Well, I'll turn the tables on you! I didn't actually buy it (yet). This week has been the week of Starfinder, D&D5, and Pathfinder goodies for me.

So there! :P

Symbol numbers are the same, just on different facings between the two sets. I did a side by side comparison. It was a pain in the rear keeping track of what side I was on.

But the distribution per facing is the same, which is all that actually matters :)

It's almost as if FFG finally realizes they already have all my money...

Checking the distribution was going to be my second task...

first was checking for how advancement changed.

Yesterday I went to my FLGS (Active Imagination) and as I was coming in someone said "look it's star wars dice with the serial numbers filed off, minus a force die" I asked him are you talking about the genesys dice, he said "yeah".

I bought my copy (they had ordered/held one for me) of the genesys core book and asked if I wanted to buy some genesys dice, I said no because I can use my star wars dice for genesys but I can't use genesys dice for star wars because the genesys dice are missing a force die. But I did buy another pack of star wars dice, I'm up to 11 sets now. 4 sets are for gifts likely to my son once he's old enough and the system is out of print.

Sorry I don't seem to be Englishing well. The grouping is the same also, ie there are two advantages grouped together on a facing on the two dice sets respectively. The particular facing has just changed, so statistically they appear to be the same.

I bought two sets of Genesys dice, but still plan to use my Star Wars dice also.
