Ackbar AF list I'm working on for Regionals

This is the list I've been playing some games with for the Independence, MO Regionals. I'd appreciate any thoughts or feedback!

So why Yavaris? That is the only thing that I thought was a little different, the list looks great though!

It's just good, in general. It allows my squadrons to blow up opposing fighter screens/bombers, and then once those are cleared out I've got twice as many chances to make fickle red bomber dice actually do something! Secondarily, due to the huge side arcs on the Nebs there's a really good chance that you're going to be forced into a side-arc shot at least a couple times during the game and with Ackbar, the side arcs are actually something to be worried about, especially at blue range.

That is a good strat, I'll try that out when I get a second assault frigate!

My experience at regionals is that you may be facing HUGE initiative bids. The go last go first combo is amazingly powerful in the meta, or at least in my area. Some were even 27 pt bids...

I had the bid in all three of my regionals games at 395. I think the biggest anyone had was around 392.

So yeah, varies by meta. YMMV.

I'm more of a slasher when I run Ackbar than a swirler ago I like veteran gunners and enhanced arms on my assault frigates for that.. However I've been playing a lot of blockade run recently and I think a gunnery teams setup might be better in that objective as you could then skirt the edge on your way to the end zone while shooting two targets. Still enhanced arms for that as well.

I'd like to see a vcx in there to help move ion cannons, and allow the blue objective to be sensor net...

I think toryn would help a lot here too, as well as yt1300's versus x wings...

Finding points for all this stuff may be challenging though

This post has intrigued me, I'll be giving this a shot

I've been going with 2 VCX and 4 Awings as a LIGHT screen. Its 74 points, which is barely enough.

If you can spare the points, I'd go: 2 VCX, Tycho Shara, 2 Awings or 2Hwks, al a Ginkapo.

A note that your damage output Imo is low-poor: ship firepower value 2.5 = 2 ships only, + .5 for backbar enhancement.

Only the AF2s will reliably get shots all the time. Yavaris is too busy fending off squads and trying not awkwardly fly straight when everyone else is going sideways.

And you don't have enough squadrons to generally survive and plink in end game.

I tend to go with 2 AF, 1 Cr90, 2 transports, 80-90 pt AA screen.

The cr90 adds .5 to 1. more ship damage.

Thanks for the feedback, Blail. Trying to accurately determine how a fleet flies can be difficult for me, as I play with one person regularly, and he's been playing one fleet to get ready for the Regional. Here's the alternate version of what I have:

You could always try to find room for a MC30 scout with gunnery team, racks and TRCs as although really quite expensive its uneconomical for your opponent to try killing it at long range, has some good plink damage long range with Ackbar, and as soon as they approach your gunline you can turn and charge them. This is my new favorite way to run my MC30.
