Several Silencer lists

Brainstorming some lists.

Exposed RAClo

Kylo Ren (TIE Silencer) — TIE Silencer 35, Push the Limit3, Advanced Sensors3, Advanced Optics2, Autothrusters2, First Order Vanguard2

Ship Total: 47

Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator46, Expose4, Experimental Interface3

Ship Total: 53

100 points

I know people hate on expose, but I think here it might have a place. Focus/Target Lock and then Expose each turn you are in combat. 4 dice PWT with focus/target lock and Chiraneau's ability is solid. Built in criticals for when ISYTDS gets put out. The Decimator also covers Kylo's backside while he dodges around.

Gunboat Blackout

Test Pilot "Blackout" — TIE Silencer31, Trick Shot0, Advanced Sensors3, Advanced Optics2, Autothrusters2, First Order Vanguard2

Ship Total: 40

Major Vynder — Alpha-class Star Wing26, Push the Limit3, Harpoon Missiles4, Advanced SLAM2, Os-1 Arsenal Loadout2

Ship Total: 37

Nu Squadron Pilot — Alpha-class Star Wing18, Long Range Scanners0, Linked Battery2, Flechette Cannon2, XG-1 Assault Configuration1

Ship Total: 23

100 points

Blackout dances around asteroids as a sniper while covering the Gunboat's backs while they do large circles around the map.

In the first build, RAC is an easy first target and the amount of big jousters and ordnance floating around means 2 rounds of concentrated fire will probably see him leaving in a flaming heap. Expose is fine on a decimator, but you probably want some kind of deterrent or means to stagger alpha strikes to make sure he survives the opening rounds. I'm still reserving judgement on advanced optics. It'll help you with double modded shots on the opening joust and again whenever you need to break away and regroup. Otherwise it's going to have minimal impact I think and you're probably going to be better off using a different tech. Maybe it'll be awesome, but I'm skeptical.

List 2, I like the idea behind it, but I'm not sold on Vynder with PTL. Embracing the PS 7 should be fine with all the PS 10 and 11 that are hitting the board. I just don't see needing to lock yourself into his okayish greens to take 3 actions a turn. SLAM, reload, focus seems a bit excessive and I think you can get away with not needing that third action and opening up your dial for 180 turns. I like the idea of expertise on him since you'll really never use his red maneuver and you can clear a stress relatively safely. Another option would be to add in a second missile or torp to either cover your range bubble or give you some options for ions or stress. That would also make your Nu squadron more impactful if you can stress and ionize a target and use blackout to take obstructed pot shots. Last option would be to take a cheap EPT and upgrade the flechette cannon to a mangler. Your Nu won't be slamming around the board, but he'll be triggering the harpoons the same round they hit the board. A focus token and soft reroll from linked all but guarantees 3 hits with at least one of them a crit.

Sadly, I do not think one can really get a decimator and Kylo Silencer in one list. They both demand too many points.

I find more potential with the second list. I don't like Adv. Optics on Blackout, I think it will be a very niche upgrade. I have 2 preferred build: cheap and less potent, or expensive and more potent:

Cheap:

Trick Shot

Collision Detector

Title

Adv. Sensors

AT (Optional)

Expensive:

PTL

Adv. Sensors

Title

PA

AT

Both of them can line right up to a rock and benefit; cheap build benefits more, but has less dice mods.

As for the Alphas alongside? I like Vynder like this: Prockets, Harpoons, OS-1, VI, Adv. SLAM. Gives him an attack at all ranges. He should try not use that Lock if at all possible, which, I admit, does make PTL appealing.

The Nu is a fine cheap build, but really won't do much at all. You could fit Pure Sabacc in, or take off Vynder's Prockets and have Omega Leader, etc etc lots of options.

However, you could also throw in 2 Rhos, Tomax w/Unguided, Crack, LWF and Omega, or any number of combos!

Collision detector and adv sensors are both systems upgrades, so you won't be able to run both, but primed thrusters is a cheap option for tech or you can probably safely pass on that slot all together. Why do you like sensors alongside PA? Just for the flexibility to move around when you check stress? I'd be hesitant to take any two upgrades that prevent you from using one when you use the other.

Lol whoops, I meant PA on that first option. And yes, on the expensive build, I like both largely for the utility of actions before or after a red, regardless.

I wanna shoot that Kylo to death real fast, considering I should be able to. That being said, there is a lot left afterwards in RAC. I think that has some real potential though. Inspired, what about this:

Blackout

Trick Shot

Collision Detector

Pattern Analyzer

Title

AT

RAC

Gunner

Kylo

Season to taste.

Perhaps I was wrong to say they can't fit together!

This. Even if i could, i wouldnt do it. Kylo is much better as a crew on the decimator. Get blackout and build the decimator closer to "classic" RAC. IMO Blackout+RAC has a chance to be a thing. It might be better than Whisper RAC, especially considering all the ps10-11 running around. Whisper really needs to shoot 1st to shine.

I absolutely plan to run Kylo and RAC in the store tournament at the end of the month. Kylo gets all his bells and whistles and RAC can be a nightmare to deal with even with just 55ish points.

My list for today's testing:

Test Pilot "Blackout" — TIE Silencer 31
Trick Shot 0
Collision Detector 0
Primed Thrusters 1
Autothrusters 2
First Order Vanguard 2

Ship Total: 36

Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator 46
Veteran Instincts 1
Emperor Palpatine 8
Kylo Ren 3
Engine Upgrade 4
Dauntless 2

Ship Total: 64

I like it but i would make 1 necessary change: remove dauntless on RAC and Primed Thrusters on Blackout. Put advanced sensor on Blackout. Hes going to do a lot of dancing around asteroids. IMO AS is a must on him.

The big question after that is do you want a better Blackout or do you want Palpatine. This will require some more testing but so far on Vassal ive found that it's worth sacrificing palp to boost Blackout. So another build you might want to test later:

Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator 46
Veteran Instincts 1
Kylo Ren 3
Rebel Captive 3
Engine Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 57
Test Pilot "Blackout" — TIE Silencer 31
Push the Limit 3
Advanced Sensors 3
Autothrusters 2
First Order Vanguard 2
Ship Total: 41

Even though KO RAC might be a nice build, i think it will struggle a bit with some current meta top list. RAC hates alpha strikes and squads with 4+ ships.

Edit: add intel agent on RAC. You still have a 1 pts bid and it helps Blackout vs higher PS.

I like this concept, but really, Palp isn't super necessary. I would leave Blackout as is, I like that build, and ditch Palp/title/EU for HSCP or Rebel Captive and Gunner. That should let you upgrade Primed Thrusters to Pattern Analyzer as well.

Had one game with the list so far. Expose list. Vs Adaptability Chireneau with Palp+Kylo and VI Blackout.

He kept Chireaneau blinded for two turns so i didn't get many shots off, but by the time he killed the decimator my Kylo had killed his. He took initiative, which worked out in my favor since my Kylo moved last. Once his decimator was dead it was easy to kill blackout.

The title triggers more often than you'd think.

With Advanced sensors, practically speaking your k-turns and talon rolls are white but you cant ptl that turn.

Autothrusters is mandatory.

The list I plan on trying for a few weeks is this:

Tie Silencer (Kylo) 35

PTL 3

Autothrusters 2

FCS 2

Threat Tracker 3

First Order Vanguard 2

Ship total = 47

Decimator (RAC) 46

VI 1

Engine Upgrade 4

Inspiring Recruit 1

Ship Total = 52

List Total = 99

I like the silencer build here because if you are out of position you can PTL before combat to get back into position. Alternatively, if your positioning is fine, then you can fire first, then when the ship activates you can use Ptl and Threat Tracker to hopefully dodge. Thirdly, if they have a higher PS, you can use Threat Tracker and PTL to dodge as many arcs as possible and still be able to focus. Seems to have a decent amount of flexibility. Will see how it goes.

This seems strong to me, not too big of a sacrifice in this build

Test Pilot "Blackout" — TIE Silencer 31
Push the Limit 3
Advanced Sensors 3
Autothrusters 2
First Order Vanguard 2
Ship Total: 41
Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator 46
Veteran Instincts 1
Kylo Ren 3
Gunner 5
Engine Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 59

Rac really needs gunner because you will rarely have the chance to do anything but Kylo and boost, so it really helps offense.

You can also remove the title from blackout to fit moff jerjerrod to help rac out, since an early crit like damage engine or the ps0 one can really suck
