A-Wing Harpoon Squad

By surly88, in X-Wing Squad Lists

The A-Wing always had and always will have a special place in most Star Wars fans hearts, so I thought I look what I could do with all the new toys available ...

4x Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Deadeye (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Crack Shot (1)
Guidance Chips (0)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Total: 100

I'd would have been amazing to have PTL available here and play them with Deadeye and PTL so you could go Focus + Evade on the first engagement ... but well, that's how it goes I guess ; )

So what you guys think, playable underdog or crappy fanboy list? : )

/edit:

I guess 4 Tie Adv Proto would fit a similar role:

4x Baron of the Empire (19)
Deadeye (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)
TIE/v1 (1)

Total: 100

Basically trading Crackshot for a slightly better wheel (gets 1 Banks), a nice Title and PS4.

I ran a similar list, except it was 3 A-wings, they had Swarm Tactics instead of Crackshot, and I added in Roark in a HWK. PS 12 Alpha strike!

How did it go? Might sharing some results? :)

Poor flying on my part led to lackluster results. I had no experience with A-wings or 'interceptor' type craft, so in every match I tried it I would go in too fast and end up maybe getting 1 missile off, possibly 2.

The issue is, after they fire those harpoons, they are legitimately useless. Plus, the odds of critting to proc the condition are minimal.

A-Wings with long range missiles are just no good, especially target lock ones. Deadeye and a missile is a very inefficient use of points... better off with Prockets every day on an A-Wing

I've flown 4 procket crack/snap A-Wings and done okay with it, melts RackLo. But still lacking offense at the end of the day once the snaps and prockets are gone.
