Maul crew in epic, free rerolls for days for 3 points, beats dragging Jonus around.

Yeah, well we Imps are still waiting for that red idiot to remember he was a Darth first.

Got me a little Epic sumpthin sumpthin just last night. Gonna play next week, too.

'Course, it's in the basement/kitchen, so no idea what the FLGS scene is like.

Also I can't wait to SLAM in there with a bunch of Gunboats and deliver debilitating payloads to capital ships in the form of Ion Cannons and Ion Torpedoes.

I can't wait to haul bootie across the table!! Just had to deal with a K-boat last night. It got down to Miranda vs. The Inquisitor. She ioned me, and it was all over. It was an awesome nail-biter of a game though, so loosing was still a great night of XWM. OTOH, gunboat revenge will be so sweet.

Why? From my understanding of the rules, it won't work on a huge ship. The rerolls are conditional on taking stress tokens.

Because a huge ship can receive tokens, it just has to immediately discard them.

Why.... is Maul every faction but Imperial?

Because of stuff that happened in TCW. He basically set up his own Anti-CIS, Anti-Republic crime syndicate. If that doesn't scream "Scum", I don't know what does. And then also he's being hunted by Imperial Inquisitors and big V in Rebels. He's only available to Rebels in-so-much as he's tried to teach/corrupt Ezra a few times, and is willing to follow him around.

Not how that works, DM.

We are in our third epic season. This year, we have 20 players: 3 qualifier matches followed by a double elimination tournament.... over several months, of course.

Epic is awesome. We did a summer league of it and are now looking to have a winter league soon.

House rules we added - ships that blew up were gone and you had to use those points to build your list back up again. You could always reuse generics if you wanted, but any uniques (pilots or upgrades) killed were gone for the rest of the league for you. So use them carefully!

Yep.

Why? There are 2 versions of Han Solo in this game.

Interesting house rule. In our case we had:

Year 1 : no house rule

Year 2: 80 points had to be invested in a General and lieutenant (General: huge or large unique ship, lieutenant: large or small unique ship, general had to be more costly than the lieutenant).

Year 3: having a huge ship is mandatory

The house rules were put in place to try and dissuade the constant use of swarms.

Year 1 was won by an attani mindlink list

Year 2 was won by Dormitz dropping lots of high PS ships down the enemy's throat on round 1 with hyperwave comcaster for tokens

Year 3: we'll see.. the next wave is going to screw everything up.

Maul is going to be bonkers on a CR90 as long as you hide Ezra somewhere in your 300 points.

Thematically it sort of makes sense. He hates the Emperor and has a huge grudge against him. Balance-wise it's annoying for now, but I'm pretty sure the next FAQ will make Maul small and large ship only. He's completely broken on an epic ship in my opinion.

Layers of stupid. If you kill a character, just let him be dead.

I mean being Imperial because you're a Darth. I mean, nobody clamors for Imperial Asajj do they? Because it wouldn't make sense. She was a CIS agent and then went freelance. Scum all the way.

Darth Vader = Imperial

Darth Sidious = Imperial

Darth Maul = Scum??

I'm not saying the current version of Maul is invalid. I am saying a 2nd version of DARTH Maul should be made Imperial.

Asajj was never a Darth. She was an "illegitimate" apprentice to Darth Tyranus and outside of the "Rule of Two." Then went rogue after that. So, yeah, it makes sense that she is Scum. BUT if there is ever a CIS, it weould also make sense that there was a version of her for THAT faction, too.

Well, lemme spin you a yarn about Darth Krayt...

But... "Darth" Maul was never part of the Empire. He stopped being a Darth like 10 years before the Empire was even formed . By the time the Empire formed, he hated the Emperor and would have gladly killed anyone in the Empire. Darth Maul and Darth Sidious (The Phantom Menace versions), if ever made, would almost certainly need to be Scum, because the "Empire" would be the "Republic".

Now the ARC-170, on the other hand...

A. What ship does he fly?

B. Not canon.

C. Even worse, far future non-canon, so pretty unlikely he will ever get to be re-canon.

D. I even had to look him up, so (A) may as well have been "Darth who?"

i actually feel like the new bomber was intended for epic.

It feels so...lackluster for standard games but for its price it sounds deadly as **** in epic.

i just wish you could launch actionbombs, even if it bumped the price of that system to 2pts.

And Darth Vader and Kylo Ren were never alive at the same point time time. Temporal objection over ruled.

I suppose we could just put almost everything into Scum, since Han Solo, Lando, Chewbacca (he was with the Republic then joined Solo as a smuggler), Dash Rendar, and lots of other characters have "dubious political affiliations" at some point in their story arcs. So, if the Rebels are willing to give up all of their scum-bag "heroes". . .

The sentence you didn't bold was pretty much the jist of my point. Darth Maul was a pretty anarchistic Sith, despising Sidious' Empire-building. He probably would've hated the Empire, just as he hated the Republic.

imo very few ships feel like they actually belong in scum.

All the bountyhunter ships were flown along Imperials because money
Most of the other ships were flown either flatout AS rebels or against the empire but not actually aligned with the rebels. Few exceptions of course, such as the quadjumper or afaik the protectorate

Then of course with Scum being a thing we get the mess that is technically every non something-wing ship should be scum, except perhaps the ARC given the context it was brought in the game (refitted old tech due to lack of ships)

Scum just cause all sorts of alignment issues but its the best way to get a third faction in a game of Good Guys vs Bad Guys (imps vs rebels fyi, stupid rebels claiming to be the good guys...). Only other way would be the Vong and...we dont talk about them

Yeah, I agree @Vineheart01 , and I wanted to clear up, @Darth Meanie , that I agree with you that Maul randomly being Scum is stupid. I just also think that there's no real justification for him being Imperial either (and not really a great excuse for Rebels, which is why he's Ezra only.)

In essence, he was revived by money. Great interest in his character caused a dramatic revival. It's not the first time Star Wars pulled some comic book "dead but not gone" crap - see Boba Fett. Someday, I expect Han Solo will be cloned and the younger actor will play him. The only reason he died is because Harrison Ford is ancient and didn't want to play him anymore anyway. The character is popular as ever and will almost surely see a dramatic resurrection at some point, somehow. Because Star Wars.

Is boba even back at all?

I know he "blew himself up" to get out of the sarloc in the EU comics but did that stay canon with the mouse taking over?

I don't have a source, but I think Disney has announced somewhere that he survived the Sarlaac.
