Taking a stab at a rebel list.

By CasoPrime, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I just bought Heroes of the resistance so and I thought I would try my hand at a rebel list. I normally fly Imperials but I really like reys pilot ability and the Synergy with Finn so I thought I would try Nym as a wing man and see what happens what do you think?

Scurrg H-6 Bomber: · Captain Nym (30)
Deadeye (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Homing Missiles (5)
Synced Turret (4)
· Bomblet Generator (3)
Guidance Chips (0)
YT-1300: · Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
· Finn (5)
· Millennium Falcon (Segnor's Loop) (1)

Do you have Kanan Jarrus crew? If not, proxy it if you can. Expertise and the MF sloop title are much better with Kanan. You can change your upgrades on Nym to free up the points. I would drop Synched Turret.

Agreed, get Kanan on Rey, Nym can deal with a little less. I would personally ditch the missiles and do this:

Rey

Kanan

Finn

Sloop Title

Expertise

Nym

VI

Bomblets

ABT

Title

Adv. Sensors

Genius

hmm. I dont have a ghost, but I can see where kanan makes you less predictable after getting stress. I can proxy him my next game night.

On the timing for him, would he instantly clear the stress or would I have that round and its just easier to clear the next?

Nope, with Kanan, after pulling the Millenium Falcon title Sloop, you come right out of it stress free!

I would be more willing to take the missles off of nym to make room for him than synced. Making make him a little more defensive with havoc and sensor jammer?

Scurrg H-6 Bomber: · Captain Nym (30)
Deadeye (1)
Synced Turret (4)
· Bomblet Generator (3)
· Havoc (0)
Sensor Jammer (4)
YT-1300: · Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
· Finn (5)
· Kanan Jarrus (3)
· Millennium Falcon (Segnor's Loop) (1)

I think this still creates target priority problems. Even a skinny Rey is powerful, and Nym can cause some problems with the bomblet and double modded red dice.

I don’t think your list has the tools to make Sensor Jammer worth 4 points. Sensor Jammer is less and less viable withh every wave. The card is negated by a focus token. Every ship in the game has the focus action, and there are plenty of ways to get free tokens. Sensor Jammer needs to be paired with some kind of focus denial mechanic.

I think you are right. I am going to toss a recon spec on nym for now and get some time on the mat and adjust from there.

I don't think Synced Turret is that good. For starters, you won't be able to barrel roll, or else you won't get the focus you need. The action requirements are pretty strict. I'd be inclined to run VI instead of Deadeye (unless you expect lots of PS 11, VI is usually better), and a turret without action requirements. Any of Dorsal, Autoblaster, and Twin Laser are probably better. Dorsal gets shots easily, but won't always do huge damage. Autoblaster can get a small amount of damage through, but is greatly range-limited. TLT is great all around.

For a missile, I think keeping it cheap might be better. A single Cruise Missile without Extra Munitions is pretty strong, or maybe even Ion Pulse. Locking a ship like Miranda or Nym into a 1-Forward next turn can set up a deadly round of shooting. Nym has a lot of versatility in what he can do, so you don't need to invest heavily in front-arc secondary weapons. I'd rather strengthen his out-of-arc shooting, or his bombs.

Almost any popular system is fine, or taking Sabine (Ghost again...). Accuracy Corrector, Advanced Sensors, Fire Control Systems, and Collision detector are all solid. I tend to think the points are often better spend here than on extra missiles.

As to Rey, Kanan is great, but so would be Chopper, if you can't find the points. Both Ghost expansion. As to non-Ghost options... Inspiring Recruit wouldn't be bad. Rey is a huge point investment, and generally needs to be stress free to do big damage.

Also remember, folks here tend to fly casual. It's fine to proxy upgrades until you can get expansions.

I don't really like Recon Spec that much on a ship with only one agility. I'd be more inclined to take Fire Control System (for two forms of dice modification, rather than one) or Accuracy Corrector. Particularly with TLT or Autoblaster, it'll go a long way in the dice mods, while still allowing you to have a defensive focus, or to perform more barrel rolls. Recon Spec really does it's best when you have more agility to work with, and particularly with defensive rerolls, like Lone Wolf. It's not bad, but I think it could be better.

@theBitterFig I will do some switching. I bought HotR more for pattern analyzer and to have a Falcon( even though it has the wrong dish, but my wife wants to fly it when we play together.) 2 Ship lists are new to me coming from the Imperial side. ****, turrets are pretty new to me, but I just think theres a list there with Nym and Rey. Thank you for the breakdown and advice!

@CasoPrime I thought of a great Deadeye/Recon Spec build, though, just coming back to the computer and seeing this still on the screen. Concussion Missiles with 2x Focus and Deadeye is really strong. Something like a 95% chance of 4 hits.

The falcon doesnt have Kanan crew but I think will still be formidable.
