For or Against?
Against, there were cool things in SotE, but also tons and tons of undiluted cringe. Sex-Robot Guri and pheromone horny Leia are things that I really don't need to revisit ever again. And Dash Rendar is a doofus.
Star Vipers rock, though!

Yeah, a Remake would be a horrible idea.
My idea:
Take out all that stuff no one likes obviously, and start over (Reboot).
Dash Rendar is an Imperial Jumptrooper who gets promoted to Special Forces and assigned to go undercover as a Mercenary to infiltrate the Rebels, then gradually over the course of the game he becomes a double agent. All while the Black Sun's Xisor is blackmailing him to do other missions or he'll sell him out on the back market to the highest bidder.
Other characters:

- Captain Rex
- Iden Versio
- Hera Syndulla
That sounds really cool, but why tie it to dash? It has nothing to do with his original character.

The joy of remakes is that you are not bound by the original. Sure some die-hard fans will hate you
for not having horny Leia
for not sticking with the source material. But in the end a lot of remakes, especially when switching media formats end up better because of the changes and decisions they made.
Naturally that assumes that the makers of the new one understand why the source material is good in the first place and are humble enough to try to replicate this instead of doing their own thing. I am looking at you
Rupert Sanders and Jamie Moss.

He was a former Imperial pilot. In the game he does do some piloting (zero smuggling that I remember) but he does mostly Jumptrooper type missions. It feels really organic to make that change.
I never read the book but it sounds creepy.
There are a lot of Dash fans and a lot of haters. He needs to be more than a Han Solo knock-off wearing football equipment. Take away the stuff people hate, replace it with cool stuff and keep the nostalgia alive. That's how you do a reboot.
Edited by Mychal'elThey need to do a "reimagination" of it instead.
Still have Xizor, Still have Dash... but give him a better personality and make him different than your standard Han Solo clone.
And include other stuff too. Maybe use it as a platform to relaunch a few other Legends gems.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say!
Sign me up! Who do I need to talk to to get the job?

I consider myself a die-hard fan of the game, and I would gladly take out that and any other trash.
It's a fixer-upper that needs a remodel. I for one think it's worth salvaging.
