Dreamlands Day and Night

By johnny shoes, in CoC General Discussion

Lots of LCG cards do something if it is day or night. Day of the Deep Ones I suppose could pump out multiple night cards. Otherwise for a night card, your four choices are neutrals Dreamlands Wanderer and the Setting Sun, CT event Midnight Rendezvous and Shuggob.

There are three day cards - neutrals the Day Dreamer, the Rays of Dawn, and Daybreak. That's it. There are like 25 other cards waiting for either three or four guys to pop up to take effect. Besides the two dreamers, the cards are indeed pretty tough. Just thin. I'm thankful for the plethora of Gugs and Ghouls as still-humble comparison.

CCG subtypes of day and night were quantity 14 and 16 respectively. I count 60 additional CCG cards affected by day and night. There's still no comparison. The LCG to CCG count is still 415 (soon 485) to 1194. We're still not where we should be. I'm glad we're still here and the game breathes life. But is it healthy. We discuss the pace of the releases. I am in the minority thinking it's monstrously too slow. Back in the 1950s a guy would come to your house and sell you an encyclopedia. You'd receive it one book at a time, over like three years. But don't study yams or zoology for 36 months. This is kinda like that.

I don't know if they quite nailed day/night. Easy to pop night and day on future cards. We still wonder at the demotion to text box and left align double space day and night. The question looking forward is whether these cards can be specifically targeted or enhanced. The question looking back I doubt FFG will ever answer.

I would hope it is a mechanic that will get some support in future products and more day/night cards for the Factions.

I can see why the kept the cards that make it night or day, to neutral because of the limitations of the LCG format (I still love that format and is the main reason I began to buy CoC LCG stuff). Each faction geta max of three cards in each Asylum pack and if they had to devote more than one or two cards to that mechanic there would not much room left other interesting card.

But this is more a problem with the faction to neutral cad ratio in the asylum pack, which i think is a bit to much on the neutral card side.

Secrets of Arkham expansion will probably have more of the old Day/Night cards in it. At least that's my guess.

Billyzbub, if they do reprint day night cards from CCG, the question is will they get demoted to non-subtype. We seldom if ever see a card type affected that is defined by description and not attribute.

I Think, we can expect some change about the text since Night and Day are no more subtype in LCG's format. Reprint a card is not always keeping exactly the same text.
