sources for 1/44 diecast

By SgtWaka, in Tide of Iron

Ive gott quite a bit in german and american tanks and trucks , halftracks, in 1/144, but i can't find an outlet for british in 1/144. There is alot in N scale or 1/160, but it is metal and unpainted. I'm gettin' too old to paint this stuff, eyes failin'. Does anyone have a source for british stuff in 1/144. Thanks

I's difficult to find 15mm Brits from the WW2.... more about the frogs and lobsters war....

British anything in 1/144 scale is extremely limited, more so if you're looking for pre-paints. I've hunted high and low, and the only stuff I've found so far is here:

www.panzerdepot.com/

The good news? Their models look great.

The bad news? They are expensive, and they haven't made the right British armor for TOI. At least not yet. So far they've produced the Cromwell Mk. IV, Valentine, Bishop and Matador truck (which I guess could stand in for the Bedford OY if you're not too picky). They do release new models on a regular basis so there's hope they'll make a Crusader, Matilda or Universal Carrier.

In the past few years I've seen more 1/144 scale armor coming out all the time so keep your fingers crossed. I've even heard a rumor that 21st Century Toys has been reborn as All-Go Toys. They used to sell a variety of 1/144 sculpts for around $2.00 each (under the Classic Armor/New Millennium name), so perhaps they will start up again?

I hope that helped.

Sincerely,

Yipe

I found the Panzerdepot page too...but the prices are really really cheeky! OK Models look great, but if you gonna buy a tank...and we talk about a single tank, for 17 bucks...cheeky. I can buy pre- painted models from EASY MODEL, TRUMPETER or DRAGON ARMOR...ok in 1/72... for less than 10 bucks on ebay.

Nice pic ther SW!!! very nice indeed.

I checked out panzerdepot, thanks for the link. They have got quite alot but that British Matador is butt ugly, i much prefer the Bedford. I can't believe sombody would produce all those British tanks and leave out the Matilda? Are they mad? Well maybe by fall i shall find something or they will produce some.
