Q dual wielding nimian

By Stormbourne, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

my character is a niman disciple and just got their second lightsaber, I've heard that dual wielding rules say worst characteristic with worst skill. while the skill is the same i want to know if i will be using brawn or willpower as niman technique is a bit vague: "When making a check using the Lightsaber skill, the character MAY use Willpower instead of Brawn."

"May" is the operative word. You choose which you use. You can even change it on every check, if you want. If your Willpower is higher, there's little reason to not use it on every roll, though. And since both weapons use the Lightsaber skill, you only get a single increase to the Difficulty when dual-wielding.

Cheers :) !

Your choice. Depending on how an encounter unfolds you may find one stat or the other negatively impacted by a critical hit so having the option can be huge.

You choose to use Niman Technique before making the check, so Brawn needn't ever enter the considerations.

That and there are certain techniques that require a Nimen attack. E.g. draw closer. So force techniques are fairly important to consider that. With those moves in particular that dictate a lightsaber check with a particular score, you must use that attribute for that test. Though if it is unlisted in the description (e.g. Doesn't specify agility, Wisdom), you can use either/or.

Ah, that's not going to play into your lightsaber skill. That's for if you're using two different kinds of weapons. Let's say you had Willpower 3, Agility 2, Lightsaber 2 and Ranged (light) 1, and were trying to buckle some swash with a pistol and a lightsaber at the same time. THAT is when the rule comes into play. In this case, you would have to use Agility (lowest characteristic) and Ranged (lowest skill).

In your case, you can just use Willpower (assuming it's better that your Brawn), but you bump the difficulty up by one. Draw Closer will help you overcome that, and anything you can do to add Advantage to your rolls will help you carve Sith Lords like a turkey.

Well actually im playing a inquisitor apprentice against the other members of my group (the decision to do so made me very popular)

okay so when calculating the damage is it:

weapon 1 + weapon 2 + uncancelled successes

or

(weapon 1 + uncancelled successes) + (weapon 2 + uncancelled successes)

the way i read it is the second on as rules state "Each hit deals its base damage, + 1 damage per uncanceled success."

It's the second one, with the uncancelled successes being added to the damage of the individual weapon, with the target getting to apply their soak (if applicable) to each separate hit. Granted, if you're using lightsabers then the target's soak isn't going to matter.

Provided you scored sufficient advantage on your combat check to trigger the second weapon to hit. If you don't score those 2 advantage (or 1 advantage if your lightsabers have the Paired attachment from Fly Casual), then the damage on the second weapon isn't relevant since it didn't connect.

Just to clarify what Donovan already said:

For all Two Weapon attacks the damage formular is:

weapon 1+ uncancelled successes - parry/reflect (if available and activated) - soak (if applyable rember cortosis ignores breach and pierce)

using 2 Advantages (or 1 if both weapons have the "piared" modification) fo the second hit using

weapon 2+ uncancelled successes - parry/reflect (if available and activated again) - soak (if applyable rember cortosis ignores breach and pierce)

(For parry and or reflect the defender has to activate it multiple times if he wants to reduce the damage of each hit - That can help to take out an enemy really fast by consuming his strain)
