How do you organize this insane game??

By derekstanggt, in Star Wars: Destiny

Hi there, I'm new to SWD and am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I've got a background in Star Wars Miniatures and Star Wars X-Wing, so I feel like my organization skills are decent. However SWD is just insane with how many cards and dice there are, and there are only 3 sets so far...

So how are you organizing everything? I actually just purchased the Iris Photo storage case that I've seen recommended for the dice. I should be able to fit 512 dice so I'm good for a while there. http://www.joann.com/photo-keeper-large/11503711.html

But what about the cards? I feel like adding every card to a binder would be tedious, expensive, and massive! I'm thinking about using card boxes and sorting by Hero/Villain, Color, then Upgrade/Support/Event all alphabetically. But that could also get cumbersome and hard to travel with. What's your solution?

I use ultra pro ring binder with the ultra pro 9 card pocket pages

£24.99 on eBay for the binder and 100 pages which gives you space for 900 cards

I've added a few more pages for the 2 player starter but my folder has all 3 sets plus the 2 player starter in it with enough space for 2 of each card

I'm gonna purchase another one for the legacies cycle

It is tedious putting all the cards in but if your gonna use destiny deckbuilder, with them in numerical order, finding cards will be easy

I have colour coded pages, which I put into a binder for each set, within the red pages I store the cards by ID Number and as there is a logic to the numbering system it isn't to hard to find what I want. I store each card in a row, and will put 2-3 cards in a slot, so can easily store 9 of a card in a row.

I use the Ultimate Guard Binders, they are nice and heavy and fit the pages better than the A4 binders I can get on the cheap.

For dice I just use the good old cardboard card boxes and use 4-5 per set and have a blue, red, yellow and grey box and a 5th for overflow.

I store my legendary dice in a small organiser.

Many ziplock bags for the dice.
As for the cards i just use those cardboard card carriers you can find for like 2 bucks and spacers to divide things up.

For dice I use the Star Wars lcg deluxe boxes, I knew that game was good for something! Haha I kid I kid

binder, I think I'm gonna go up to three. Villain, hero, neutral. Then within a binder character, upgrade, support, event. By cost. Easiest if building decks from the binder.

I use a 2000 count card "shoebox" for the cards and some dice, a 1000 count card box for the rest of the dice. Cards are sorted by Hero/Villain/Neutral then color.

The way I do it is villian, neutral, hero, battlefields. I do red, yellow, blue, grey. Characters, upgrades, then other cards. Numerically and buy set.

It helps when I need or want to look up say red villain or blue hero. It also helps put the cards back when they're numerically and bicolor. (Bicolor) got to love spell check.

I have all the cards sorted numerically by set in binder sheets. It actually only took an hour or two to do, and they easily all fit in a 4" binder! Then all the dice go in a 4000-count card box, each row being a different set. Each cycle will get a new dice box and a new card binder.

That's the most efficient and cheap way I know to sort a collection.

It's not cheap, but this is a great solution that I use:

http://us.battlefoam.com/c4-p-a-c-k-c4-bag-2-0-star-wars-destiny-load-out/

It has a card binder on one side and dice on the other. Right now I have one for each faction (hero, villain, neutral). After the next cycle releases, I'll be moving the non-dice cards to a typical card box and that'll free up enough room to just about hold the entire next cycle.

Like many others, I have also decided to use the photo storage boxes. I use the larger one that is made for 5x7 photos. Stores tons of dice. I use zippered side loading leather binders (cards don't fall out!) to store each release in its own album. 480 spots and I've fit 10+ in each card area. I've started to store some of the new 2-player cards in the back of my EAW binder. All cards are stored in numerical order. I've created my own tourney / deck boxes that I actually sell (pm me) and am very happy with them. My main ones are based on the 5x7 photo boxes that have a space for tokens and I also have one that is based on the 4x6 photo box for just deck and dice. Very organized and can fit nicely into a messenger bag for transport.

I use plastic storage drawers for the dice. You can find them at places like Target, Office Depot, etc. In total I have 5 (Hero Character, Villain Character, Hero Upgrade/Support, Villain Upgrade/Support, Neutral Upgrade/Support). They're just now starting to get crowded with EaW. I may need to upgrade to larger drawers with Legacies, or start dividing them by set.

For the cards I use a basic Cardboard Shoebox I bought from my FLGS. It's pretty standard with the Magic crowd. A couple dividers you can find at any card shop will keep them organized.

Its nice to see some of the solutions that people have come up with. I also decided to be more of a collector of sorts also, that's why I decided to go with the side loading leather binders. A different color for each release, all cards in order and on display so I can trade quickly. I was previously a heavy MTG player and have SO many of those cardboard boxes around, still filled with my jewels!

If you have another cool solution, post the details!

That looks like one interesting deck, btw.

For those who use the plastic boxes, have you noticed your dice getting scuffed? I kept dice in a plastic organizer for a few weeks and some dice got scratched after getting jostled about.

Thanks

I have not had any problems or surface defects while using the plastic containers. I transport (6) of these containers to work and back in my messenger bag with no ill effects so far. I've heard of other people having issues while playing, but maybe it was just a bad batch. So far so good! Keeping my fingers crossed...

I've tried many different storage options. Tackle boxes, photo cases lined with foam pages, slotted plastic containers, and so on. I recently changed from plastic photo containers to both a Feldherr case (for 200) for destiny dice (I don't need to store my decks in there). I really like the Feldherr, but it would be a little cost-prohibitive for all of my dice for now and in the future. The photo cases were ok, but the clasps do not stand up to much use and can easily fall open, at least on the ones I tried.

I am now just making my own dice trays with cut up cardboard, cereal boxes, glue, foam pages, and tape. Takes a little time but it's good to do while watching Hallmark Christmas movies with my wife (she likes them). There is a very small chance the dice will get scuffed by cardboard. I'm making trays to hold 40 dice 'cause I have a little square bag that will fit 4-5 of them.

For cards I use deck boxes (some of which I've made myself based on youtube videos) and the cardboard long-boxes for cards mentioned above (I've been using them to hold cards since I started Magic in '93). I don't like album pages for anything other than complete sets to collect and put on the shelf, not for cards I'm going to be putting into decks.
