Hey all, quick question regarding the Tendril of Nyogtha. I'm assuming from the phrasing on Nyogtha's card "Each time a monster (but not a gate) appears during an encounter..." (emphasis mine) that the gate encounters still result in a "normal" monster being drawn from the cup and placed on the board. Is that correct?
Nyogtha question
Yes. I believe the intended result is each time a monster attacks but would not remain on the board it is a tentacle attack.
Agreed, every time a monster appears as part of an encounter. In particular, I read this to include other world encounters that state a monster appears. It may be just me, but this is actually the main annoyance of the tendril: someone is trying to get through an other world and encounters the tendril and is unable to evade or defeat and it's bye bye to the investigator! Overall, Nyogtha ranks 5th when I sort my AOs by devouring investigators before final battle (Yog Sothoth of course is first).
