With the book dropping any day now, I was just wondering if any of the GMs from GenCon still have the Demo session that they could share with the group?
Would love to get my hands on it so I could do a quick demo for my local group here.

I agree wholeheartedly.
They do. The question rather is what FFG thinks of your request. I doubt they'd be happy about the GMs spreading it, but I would be quite surprised if they (foolishly) don't release it themselves soon(-ish).
I talked with FFG Customer Service yesterday, and they patched me through to the "Events Guys". They told me they have no issue with GM's spreading them around if they got them, but they were also going to try and dig up an electronic copy to send me so I can do a Book Launch Demo Night at the local FGS!
So as soon as I get it... I'll post it up for all to share in the Fantasy Goodness! ![]()
Nice work, Palomarus!

You rule! Definitely interested for some Genesys treats to win my group over. They did not receive FFG SW well, because they are not interested in SciFi but with a fantasy approach, I could do the job of convincing them

I couldn't agree more. I have finally gotten a group together to share in the SW RPG love that I have... but it was a LONG row to hoe to be sure!
And there are many others out there that are stuck hard a fast to the Fantasy side of things... so therefore D&D for the most part. And I can't wait to expose them to the NDS and just how awesome this style or RP can be!
And the magic system... get out of here! The way that players can free-form and make their own "spells" as they go, and to fit the needs of the specific situation. It is going to blow some minds. Kind of reminds me of the good old days of the Dragonlance 5th Age System that did similar things.

Nice, I still have most of my 5th age stuff. If I could have only had a group that would play it. ![]()

I have so many fond memories of that time in RPG's to be honest... but I wonder on how much of that is the result of the soft "mood-lighting" of memory versus reality? ![]()
I made the mistake of buying the complete He-Man cartoon for my boys a few years back when I say it in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart.... and I couldn't even make it through the second episode!
Paging @DarthGM!

He already commented on a Facebook Group that he is not comfortable sharing his copy unless FFG gives him the go ahead, as he doesn't want to potentially strain his relationship with FFG.
Which I totally understand and support by the way.
Hence why I went to FFG to either get a copy, or have them give me an official email that gives the GenCon GM's the go ahead to release their copies.

Isn't that what you got from the Event Guys? (I'm strongly opposed to straining relationships, for the record.)

I talked to them on the phone, so do not have an official email response from them yet unfortunately. But he said that if he can't wrangle up an electronic copy, than he would get me an email to show the GenCon Demo crew that says they have FFG's blessing to release it to the masses.
The best solution would be for FFG to do a quick "Release Article" come the 30th and if they haven't done so, put a quick paragraph and link at the bottom, something like the Lot5R promo campaign.

Making the demo into a marketing tool makes perfect sense and gets the "how-to" aspect rolling properly with an actual how-to.
Just got contacted by a different employee at FFG.... and was told that "Unfortunately the PDF of the demo version of Genesys is unavailable and we are unable to send it out to you for the release date".
So sad times!
No idea why was given, but here's to hoping they got something else planned for the release! ?
But that doesn't preclude anyone with physical copies from scanning and posting them, does it? Would it be out of line to ask if you could do their legwork for them?
I was told they don't want it out to the public due to some of the content.
Said they also don't want those with hard copies to make PDFs for distribution.
Asked if the had plans to release a different "beginner game" for the system at launch... was told he and numerous others in FFG have brought this up, but nothing to his knowledge.
So.... guess I gotta dust of my thinking cap a bit early is all!

I admit, I'm a little disappointed. :-(

Left hand. Right hand. Strangers.

I can't imagine any parts of the story would have them all squeamish all of a sudden. So, most likely the content in question are outdated rules and they haven't bothered to update it.

I agree. Things move on and keeping stuff up to date requires investment of time.
I can’t recall the photos we saw from the time, but it may also be the case that the materials are not up to FFG standards for public release. Making it look right would also take effort and I can understand a company (especially one with the design ethos of FFG) being reluctant to publish ‘work in progress’ materials as if they were finalised.
Edited by dbm_Just off of the few shots I saw of the Character Sheets... looks like the removed a few of the Magic Skills (Rune, Primal, and Verse) that were listed... and replaced them with Cunning....
So I am sure more things have changed as well between the demo and now.
I had a chance to look at Genesys last night. The demo character sheets are pretty significantly out of date with the final CRB. The concept of a "heroic ability" is missing entirely in the CRB, and it looks like there's no such thing as a "signature spell" with component pieces baked into the spell. It looks like some talents are not in the CRB either, such as Finesse. Again, it was a quick reading, so I might have missed them. Frankly it looks like the demo might have been more advanced than the final version in terms of gameplay concepts.

Interesting. Finesse seemed pretty cool and important.
