Mountain View Regionals - Lists and Results

By hulldown, in Star Wars: Armada

So happy to see that BTVenger list in #1. Hoping that means some people will try to copy it at my Regional.

Anybody happen to know what #1's matchups were? BTVenger with a huge bid and only 4 activations seems... not super great. I mean, it's a solid list, don't get me wrong, it just doesn't seem runaway-good, and I see quite a few on here that I'd expect to counter it pretty well (assuming skill parity, of course).

I'd like to know too.

Also never used Hondo nor Suppressor. Did these factor in? Or was it simply having two really good 1st player ships plus some AA?

Hondo is a fantastic way to absolutely guarantee BT goes off (assuming he doesn't die first, which... seems unlikely). Suppressor + Avenger is sexy on its own, so I can see why he went for it.

Like I said, it's definitely a good fleet, with flexibility, redundancy, balance in activation order, covers most of the bases. I just feel like it would wither to, say, that TRC90 fleet, or any one of those MC30 fleets. Heck, that one with the Liberty/MC30 should have a fair shot at outright tanking the Avenger shot with both activation advantage and a Liberty front arc to point at it with Madine+ET.

All that said, Demo shepherding targets into an ISD front arc is a super duper nasty combo that's worked well on me before, so nothing to be dismissed, for sure.

Anyway, grats on the win, Micah!

what a great service, many thx.

not surprised on Avenger (although without Sloane), and yeah for the swarm of CR90s!

What an interesting group of lists - Cracken TRC90's in second! Nice!

No surprise, n°1 is a BTAvenger. But only one list using it in the top 10, good to read!

Yay for the TRCs!

Thanks all. I was the one running Cracken. Got pretty solidly trounced by Ackbar token shenanigans in round 2 (should have bitten the bullet, stuck to the plan and taken advanced gunnery) but the last two rounds went really well for me and I'm really happy with how it all turned out.

Supressor is mostly a squadron pusher but has a ton of utility with Avenger. It helps create a really weird no fly zone with Avenger lurking beside it.

As for Hondo, if you haven't tried him with boarding troopers you've got to. Great insurance. Frees you up to take another command and means that you can't lose your squadron to slicer tools or a freak crit.

Match-ups, as best as I can recall, were...
1. Bye
2. Madine (#7)
3. Ackbar (#6)
4. Rieekan (#3)

He's actually my local sparring partner (congrats again man!) and on the forums, so maybe he can weigh in on the match-ups? Speaking for my own experience against his list? We play a lot of my fire lanes, the ISD tends to not contribute a ton, that squad ball hits WAAAY harder than it should and demo mugs a CR90 or two and proves a monster to catch. Lots of 6-5s one way or the other. The list is solid but I'd attribute it to him being a beast of a player with tons of experience running that list.

Update to my meta advice: you should probably bring Demo this weekend.

:)

Dammit.

Well, isn't that just a daisy.

I'm a bit sad to all the lists with MC30's sitting so low in the placings. I'm always rooting for those **** Fish.

@Tirion, @Maturin, @Armada Jim, @JJs Juggernaut and I took care of that for you. :)

I was just noticing that! There were MC30's galore. Do you often fly that many or was that something new for this Regionals?

It's exactly what I flew for Regionals last year, actually, and have been playing with relative consistency at big tournaments since the middle of W3 or so. The only change is I had to move Mothma off of a lifeboat flotilla and onto Admonition with the rules change. :)
