Indeed, but with palp aces doing goodish at top their play and the Silencer comming out I honestly expect imps to be getting nerfed soon, becuse you can't have the bad guys be competitive

Congrats! Good to see Vader win a regional.

Seriously?
Look, I'm a heavy Imperial player (with the occasional Rebel list), and I understand there was some recent rough times, but we are seeing Imperials back on top at the Regional level and you still think its a continuation of a sad state? Posts like this is what gives weight to the stereotype that Imp players would rather whine than get gud. Heck, this is even before the gunboat hits the live tables, and it has already shaking things up Vassal. I'm personally pretty stoked to see Vader back on top tables in his /x1, Palp's seeing play, Kylo Ren is going to shake things up here in a few weeks. The Dark Side is going to be tearing stuff up again.

Thank you! It was a stressful two days but also very fun.
The PS 11 alpha with two harpoons is pretty brutal. You can pretty much roll up with perfect board knowledge and erase one of your opponent's ships before they fire. Even auzitucks. It is a great matchup to take down low agility small bases like tactician wookies and scurrgs.
That being said, I was lucky because I never went up against a bumpmaster (which would have been very challenging) and I never had to go up against a really high health large base that could tank ordnance.
My only loss over the tournament was against Blair's z-95 swarm during the swiss! I got too aggressive on my opening and ended up losing the shuttle and having vader drop down to one hull on the opening round! I was able to kill a couple of Z's and run vader away but we ended up with a tie on points and going to final salvo (his 10 dice vs. my remaining 4). I was super nervous going into the final table but I learned from my mistake and managed to pull out a really strong opening engagement and keep it going from there.
A lot of my practice with the list consisted of making strong turn 0 decisions (rock placement and deployment) which is crucial for setting up an alpha strike and taking full advantage of deploying last. I also practiced range controlling initial engagements. If you go back and watch the opening of the final game you will see that I was doing some barrel rolling with both of my aces to a) get vader around the corner asteroid and set him up in a flanking position at range 2 and b) try to get an engagement with Quickdraw that would put his third harpoon missile carrier out of range.

Regionals from this weekend I think we're Austin and NYC, maybe more?
Sounds right, Texas and Rochester, NY. I heard Quad Wooks won Austin.

Didn’t even bother watching that game. The other list was Poe Lowrick Jess, so it was pretty obvious which way it was going. Nice that it was basically my triple t-70 list switching Nunb for the Wookiee though

Jess/Poe + someone is almost everyone's Triple T-70 list!

Diversity is...higher than ever? That top 8 only has 1 repeat pilot and the lists are completely different.

Not sure about ever, but diversity is certainly higher than earlier this year. Ah. Looking at those lists makes me feel happy. Hopefully things will stay this open for a bit longer.

Well two of my first three rounds were against Quickdraw and Omega Leader + 1 and the third was Quickdraw, Vader, Rho Squadron. All I am going to say to that is that reload action with Harpoon Missiles and being able to slam out of the fight was devastating. Eating 5 Harpoons from three ships without extra munitions after doing a good job of only allowing one missile to be fired during the alpha strike REALLY HURTS!!

I'm concerned that x4Azitucks are going to become the new meta list dominator. We'll see how things go.

There was a whole lot of stuff at Austin which fired with primary arcs. Don't let it scare you too much.
The thing I like about looking at the cut of that tournament is how few turrets there are. Unless you count Auzitucks and Lancers. But even if you do count them as turrets, it's less than has been the case.

Certainly less than the vassal league or all the nationals!
There was a regional in Linköping Sweden as well this weekend. I couldn't go and don't have a result list but based on the youtube stream the final was:
Pure Sabacc / Vader / Quickdraw
vs
Vessery / Glaive / Glaive
With Sabacc/Vader/Quickdraw winning.

I don‘t understand why he does not go to 99pt with two Harpoons and VI instead of crackshot. Can anyone explain?

I'll explain...
Cruise Missiles are better on Vader (subjectively, but hey I did win...). Especially if I can enter the fray not needing to use it and then have a nice 4-K set-up with the target lock already in place...
Cruise Missiles mess with he enemy's flying in a way Harpoons don't. Am I going fast with Vader to get the 5 dice attack or am I flying him more conservatively? With Harpoons there is no reason for them to try and stay far away.
Also, all my ships want to close to range 1 which means more than 1 Harpoon effect is bad as I will undoubtedly end up damaging my own ships. With only one Harpoon, that ship tends to die before I close to range 1 or I only close with QuickDraw which ends up with some amazing effects when you unload four dice at range one only to follow up with another shot as QuickDraw loses a shield due to his target having the harpooned condition when dying.
The possibility to do 10 damage before Sabacc shoots (QD Harpoons + Vader's Cruise and Crack on both can kill a Scurrg or K-Wing (guess which ones) and I still have a 4 or 5 dice attack coming from Sabacc) is very powerful.
The VI vs. Crack Shot argument is entirely a meta call. I tested both before the event and decided that Crack Shot helps versus more stuff but forces me to fly better versus higher PS stuff. Crack Shot ended up being the better choice in this specific event as I PS killed so many things with high Agility (Brobots, Defenders) due to the Crack Shot.
I have another Regional this coming weekend, perhaps VI is the way to go there (new stuff still not legal ), I'll have to do some thinking on this one.

Awesome, thank you very much! And congratulations on the win!
I flew a lot of Vader Qd Inq, which means I dearly miss FCS, LWF and EU.
But with advanced optics I will now probably go to a 38pt Vader and a 40pt QD, both VI, and Vader with Cruise. That is a bit harder to fly but you are spot on about the (dis)advantages. That leaves 22pt, and there are so many options to fill them now:
- Sabacc as you built him, for 4-5 dice flanks!
- Nu Sqd with a Harpoon and LRS, almost guaranteed 4 hits
- Scimitar with a Harpoon and LRS, almost guaranteed 4 hits
- go back to my previous build and replace Inq with Kestal or Major Vynder

I would test the Nu version but the pilot skill advantage of Sabacccis hard to beat.
