Rome Regional (Italy) just ended

top 8 in order of swiss placement:

1)Lowrick, Ezra (stressbot but no gunner), selflessness Pava, TLT Y

2)Asaji, Harpoon Kimogila, Thweek

3)Poe Dash

4) Thweek, Asaji and a M3-a (I don't remember which one)

5)Lowrick, Pava, Fenn, Rex

6)Kanan Lowrick

7)Boba Asaji

8)Dash Nym

There were 15 Rebels, 15 Imperials and 9 Scums. Top was 5 Rebels and 3 Scums. All Asaji in top had Shadowcaster title.

Lowrick, Pava, Fenn, Rex won the Tournament, but the final wasn't played because the runner up was feeling ill and had to 2-3 hours trip home.

I played Boba Asaji and lost the top 8 game against theek, asaji, kimogila at the final salvo: we destroyed 75 points eachothers and were both left with just Asaji when time was called.

Ciao Lorenzo! ??

Yesterday there was a french Regional at Orleans

1st and 2nd place : Lothal Rebel + Fenn (exact same list from 2 members of the same team, the turn of the game was when the 2 ghosts were 3 hull left, the initiative player shot, with 3 crit and a Blinded pilot in them !)

3rd : Me with a Rey Lowhhrick (I loose the 1/2 final cause I was really tired, couldn't think, and miss my 3rd round mouvement which make me loose the game)

4th : Rey + 2 b-wing !!!!!

Is there a reason we haven’t seen a plethora of Kylo RAC in response to Ghost Fenn? PS 0 Rau, then blinded, blinded on Ghost and profit?

Indiana regional also made me believe swarmy lists with an element of stress control can do it too.

Edited by Kdubb

I heard Indianna Regional had a Xizor and Guri list make Top 4. I would love to hear more about it and how it flew.

Also good to hear about Tie Punishers in Top 16.

Maybe people assume that that getting the condition onto Kylo in the second turn shooting (PS11 vs PS10, Kylo is only 3 and you move first) and afterwards shooting still getting denied most likely a critical hit from RAC (no palp, no RAC ability, no re-rolls either, just plain dice) is not a very save bet. Your second ships needs to get the Palp crit onto Rau, you still get the end of turn shops in the 3th and 4th turn shooting as well.
Either way, it does not look as easy as you make it sound.

It seems to be more reliable to just kill Fenn, especially as his pilot ability stays usable just fine even with PS 0. Though the Kylo + Harpoon Missile synergie seems to be really good.

A Xizor, Dalan, Guri all with PtL list no less. It was interesting stuff to watch, and possibly one of the most unforgiving lists I've seen at top tables in a while. It's got fantastic manoeuvrability, but you get your positioning wrong and it can just fold. The banked barrel rolls were a big part of what made it work.

Idk I think it may be a better counter play than most options I’ve seen. Rau isn’t nearly as impactful at 0, especially as RAC doesn’t care about carrying a focus token like most ships, and large base boost will allow him to dodge Fenn and the Ghosts arc consistantly once Fenn’s zeroed. And the ps 11 large base boost is from my understanding what takes the list over the edge. Neutralize that after the first round of combat? I would bet on that winning over Ghost Fenn more times than not.

But as most of these things go, how it plays on the table is likely totally different from how I perceive it playing out.

Blinded doesn't do that much to the Ghost though, right? It doesn't take away the end turn shot. It's better than nothing, but it's not like blinding, say, Rey.

Check out the Gold Squadron Regional video (long form) that just went up: You'll see the vipers in the top 8 and top 4 matches (go past three hours in if you want to see it directly)

So, how to you neutralize that reliable after the first round of combat? You are not even applying the condition, as you are moving first, take your action and than Rau flies into range 3.

Ok, so you neutralize him after the second turn of combat, right?
But not with the PS10 shot from RAC, because that one can't modify shots and has a about 10% crit chance.
So you are doing it with the second shot, right? That one is most likely rolling 2 dice with a target lock and Palp. Much better. A 20% Chance. So most of the time you will not apply your PS0 that turn either.
But I guess in the 3rd turn of firing ... you should be able to get to it finally. And your RAC should be a burning mess as well already.

And your understanding that the PS11 boost is the reason for the extra edge is wrong. It is used with tactical jammer as well, Kanan, Lothal Rebels, TLTs or Syn-Turrets, they all fly a little different, but at the core of the last is immense damage output from the Ghost and token denial and staking from the shuttle. Even Ezra StressBug instead of Fenn seems reasonble succesfull.

You can't modify your shot with tokens from Fenn's ability - but that doesn't stop RAC's pilot ability from modding into a crit.

Oh right. My bad. Chances up to 25% Two dice attack are not reliable hitting Fenn still. :)

Kylo, Palp ... no crew space?

Besides ... than you run into one of those pesky Rey/Recon Lists and end up with two, two dice attacks which would you bring back where you started. About 25% Chance. The thing about those spooky Ghost is that they have quite a lot variance and the weaknesses are not all the same. TLT and Sync Turret alone, Engine boost vs Tactical jammer, etc

But we should not start a discussion here, but move over to there: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/268785-the-elephant-in-the-room-how-do-you-beat-kanan-fenn/

Banked Barrel Rolls are amazing .

Ben Knotts was the guy flying the vipers. He is a member of Fiend Squadron from Indiana. We were at a squad member's house practicing and he brought it in. It was amazing to watch what he could do with them. Then he brought them the to practice night at Fiend Squadron Hanger(My horse barn has a gaming room in it.) I watched him play and I think he lost that time but he kept going at it. We egged him on and it worked out. He was 4-2 on Saturday making the cut by one slot. He was 31st. I was proud I got 54th but then I saw he had make the cut. That was twice he had earned a ticket into day 2 of an event. The first was the Crossroad Classic also in Indy. The rest is on Twitch.

Congrats Ben on a great run.

As long as some vipers and a punisher made it once, eveything is fine!

we did it!

It was incredible watching him swing those Vipers around. Great flying on a list that is fantastic but seriously unforgiving.

#2 at Indy was rookie xwing, tlt goldie with chopper mech and free chopper fuel cards, Lowhhrick, and snap shot ezra stressapede.

It's like an even more janky and less obnoxious FSR.

ROOKIE X WING TOP 2. At a 160+ player regionals. That was an overachieving list. :)

In regards to that triple Starviper list, I am going to try it, small differences.

Prince Xizor(33) [Prince Xizor(31), Push The Limit(3), Autothrusters(2), StarViper Mk. II(-3)]

Black Sun Assassin(30) [Black Sun Assassin(28), Push The Limit(3), Autothrusters(2), StarViper Mk. II(-3)]

Guri(37) [Guri(30), Push The Limit(3), Fire Control System(2), Virago(1), Autothrusters(2), Glitterstim(2), StarViper Mk. II(-3)]

I don't get the Xizor choice, I have to admit. Is PS 7 that important?

I guess Dash, Kanan and Asajj

Xizors ability is also amazing against anything that isn't poons (thrusters take care of TLTs)

Mostly, though, what else would you spend the points on?

I have been flying fenn rau and 2 vipers (Thweek and Guri), and was realy happy to see the three viper list do well, it gives me hope that my list has a chance against some of the current Meta (if i practice it enough)
