Who won Michigan? I missed the last round. Please tell me it wasn't Ghost/Fenn.

Would it help if I said that the Lothal Rebel/PS 11 Sheathipede won?

Probably not...

It was close, an action choice different and it could have gone the other way.

But yeah, Ghost/Fenn has dice variance going their way because they have so many mods/mitigation and in general the list puts the entire burden of execution on the opponent.

It’s a pretty good game though if you have the chance to go back and watch it.

Bummer. I thought Zach Matthews had a good chance to take it down in the top 4 but he made some weird choices in the midgame (choosing not to shoot at it with TLT, running Ezra out of the fight for no reason).

I almost feel like the reputation of it puts people on tilt. I'll have to check out the final later.

The hardest thing about it is that the player running it is punished far less for bad mistakes than the person playing against it. You have to manage engagements and win conditions continuously while the Ghost Fenn player just meanders causally around the board. Playing against it and you lose with one or two bad turns. That's not so much the case with ghost fenn. Shrug it off and maul away.

Agreed.

People just need to start spamming Boba crew. Shuts a lot of that **** down fast, quick, and in a hurry.

Sorta joking.

I don’t know. Boba is getting more and more tempting.

Oh it works.

60% of the time, it works every time.

What would be the best delivery system? Off the top of my head, I would say a Contracted Scout with ASTS and Boba. (That’s a baseline. Further upgrades to be added as needed.)

Bossk with Mangler cannon and Crackshot has always been my go-to (after Zuckuss got nerfed).

I used Tel at Seattle regional because his second life sweeps away nasty lasting crits. That worked in my one run-in with the Ghost.

A scurgg with poons 'n chips would probably do as well. Bossk has enough crew slots that our most mischievous mandalorian may make merry mayhem.

Advanced Homing Missile to bypass shields? That would limit it to a Scurrg, Firespray or YV-666 though... Scurgg might be good, as it's got the small base, can take LRS and has Barrel Roll to help adjust the range...

The Advanced Homing Missile sounds pretty ideal, but that range 2 only restriction is pretty big. You’d have to be pretty precise in your range control. But the rewards are tempting.

Yeah, once your opponent sees the combination and knows it's coming they'll try to avoid it. But the chance to potentially knock the TLT off a Ghost on turn one, or kick Palp out of his Shuttle... yeah, that's tempting. :D

Upgrade sniping (and trying to avoid upgrade sniping) is fun too. Maybe not for players who don't see it coming, but trying to avoid it can be fun as well.

Captian Nym - Veteran Instincts, Advanced Homing Missile, Boba Fett, Long Range Scanners - 35 points

...would seem to be the best possible delivery system. Not themost optimal use of Nym's platform, but depending on what you do with the other 65 points it could be pretty brutal. Drop VI for ASTS if you want to doubledown on target priority and have a guarantee against the Ghost's Sensor Jammer.

There is something to be said about the control something like this would have. If range two is not an option, the Ghost player might be forced into sub-optimal positions to avoid that. I've been seeing a bit of that in my experiments with the Kimogila.

Yep. The Ghost player will not want to be at Range 1 (no TLT), or Range 2 (potentially lose TLT).

As an aside, I'm rather enjoying the Kimogila myself, espeically the two ace pilots. They have good PS, they can take a couple of hits, they're relatively cheap, and Barrel Roll makes the Bullseye arc pretty effective against large base targets. Dalan and Torani with Harpoons and Chips can ruin a lot of people's day.

I have been running Dalan with Glitterstim and Deadeye to great effect. Its a very scary ship and you can keep big base ships in the bullseye arc pretty well if you use rocks and other ships to prevent boosts.

Problem is there is zero margin for error. You have to get 2 good solid shots off or its wasted points.

Yeah, I've been giving him a try myself with decent results. 8 health, 1 agility is a 2-round death timer against a TLT Ghost, but he can really put out some damage if given half a chance.

I keep wanting to put Enforcer and Painbot on him as a disincentive against shooting him, but keeping him cheap and hitty is quite clearly the better option!

30-32 pts is the sweet spot. Leaves plenty of room for 2 other solid small bases and as long as two of them have Glitterstim you have a small chance to stomp Fenn in 1-2 rounds or get ahead on the damage to the Ghost. The Ghost still dominates the majority of the time though since a smart player will only allow the Kimo to take one shot before it dies.

OK, so bearing the idea of Upgrade Sniping in mind, how about this:

Captian Nym - A Score to Settle, Advanced Homing Missile, Boba Fett, Guidance Chips - 34
Torani Kulda - Trick Shot, Unhinged Astromech, Harpoon Missile, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips - 34
Dalan Oberos - Adaptability, Unhinged Astromech, Harpoon Missile, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips - 32

Unsure where LRS would be better over Chips on Nym; ideally I'd want to leave the barrel roll free to help with range control.

Advanced homing missiles are cute, but I think the Ghost can avoid range 2 too easily. I'd just go with a chips and a proper missile and assume you'll manage to get past the shields.

You then need at least one autothrusters ace (like Fenn) to shrug off the single TLT volley a turn.

South West UK regional with over 100 players was last Saturday, winner was Dash/Poe beating Miranda/Lowhhrick/Jess in the final.

Twitch stream for round 4 onwards here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/237241923

If I find any more info about other top 16 lists, etc I'll post it up.

I was the runner up - I don't know all the top 16 lists, but I can tell you in the cut I played against Dengar/Asajj (Andrew Taylor), Miranda/Nym (Nic Harris), 4Nu/Academy (Martin Wilks), and then Dash/Poe ( Ross Pearson) in the all Vagabond Squadron final. Vagabonds on top! ;)

Nice. I was there too. Wish I would have stayed after the cut to watch but we decided to go ahead and make the trip back. How were the last matches?
