Deathrain and Trajectory Simulator Doesn't work.

By Kdubb, in X-Wing

why put it on deathrain anyway? he's already pretty freakin mean with adv sensors + bombletts.

I'd do the trajectory on nondeathrain because youre basically giving the offensive half of his ability off to someone else.

Also i'd be in the boat of you can launch and drop a bomb in the same turn if "launching is not dropping" and not trigger his barrelroll as a result. In that case, trajectory would be humorous on him lol. Theres no way they allow that though, even if its what 3 ships in the entire game that could pull it off, and only 1 is actually a major problem? (scurrg). i'd expect something in the rules or a quick faq about it.

Ive been using deathrain with bombletts, adv sensors, UGR, and LWF ever since i got my hands on bombletts. He hasnt disappointed me yet, even went toe-to-toe with Fenn and kicked his scummy butt on several occations (fenn cant risk getting too close and i am surprisingly far more nimble than he is with deathrain ability and adv sensors)

The real mistake for Imperial bombing goes all the way back to the TIE Bomber. The TIE Punisher is just a bigger brick in the same wall.

The Gunboat crowd were vocal, and they picked a ship with a lot of interesting design potential. No matter how you slice it, the TIE Punisher is mostly an overgrown TIE Bomber.

You’re right, a Punisher fix wouldn’t hurt anyone.

My wishes are not more important than yours, just more realistic. The Empire should have competitive bombing options. A Punisher fix is not the only potential solution to that problem, and out of all the potential solutions, fixing the Punisher is the least marketable, unless they’re going to bundle that fix with another product.

The uninterestingness shouldn't be a problem. Most ships are inherently uninteresting. I don't see why the phantom 2 is inherently more interesting than an overgrown bomber. There is nothing to indicate it's coordinate action. It's a landing craft. There are few inherently less interesting concepts than landing crafts. Didn't seem to bother FFG then.

The wookiee ship is also like that. Reinforce doesn't make too much sense for it.

About marketable ships. Every effective ship is marketable. Many people buy wookiees because they are good, but as a craft it had little following before.

I agree that the Auzituck and Phantom II don't seem that interesting, but those actions make some amount of sense for them. The Wookiee ship has reinforce because it is a ship that more tries to shrug off damage than dodge it (hence the low agility). The Phantom II was originally a Seperatist ship, and I would assume that if we ever got a Clone Wars spin-off game, most Seperatists would have coordinate (due to droid brains and stuff). The only problem is that there should have been other ships that had these actions too, the developers just didn't know to do that at the time. It's not so much power creep as much as idea creep - the more well-known ships are already taken, so when they want a new mechanic, the developers have to pick a ship we don't really know (or really care about).

I personally think TIE Punishers are ugly and I would have been just as annoyed if they were overpowered as you are annoyed (rightfully so) that the Auzituck is so good. We're due for another TIE Bomber fix, and hopefully it helps the Punisher too. As far as I'm concerned, the Punisher can come along for the ride, but I don't want it to be better for the cost than the real TIE Bomber.
