How to keep your Silencer points down?

A Score To Settle, Autothrusters, FCS/Title (your choice)

Jouster not a dodger, because dodging has never really worked anyway.

That's an interesting b uild for sure. You you could fit 2 HLC Gunboats with linked batteries as well. That's a heck of a jousting list

You can happily run like Kylo, Omega Leader and QuickDraw/Vader/Vessery.

Welcome to the same problems the Rebels have. ?

Now gives us back our reputation for bombing innocents into the stone age and then we can talk :)

Aaahhh, so that's why we're so rubbish at bombing the enemy- we're preoccupied!

Why would you want to keep the points down? Load him up with every defensive upgrade you can and as long as you keep him alive he becomes a small base points fortress just like Miranda.

I'm actually pretty impressed with how FFG have costed Kylo. The full bore build, with Advanced Sensors, PtL, Title, Autothrusters and Primed Thrusters is 46 points. Add a Palp Shuttle and Omega Leader (the cheapest Imperial Ace really worth taking) and you come to a nice round 101 points. So Kylo needs something taken off him, and the more you strip away the worse he becomes: losing the title hurts his offence (and his defence in that one roll where he needs it), dropping to FCS rather than Advanced Sensors makes him blockable, removing Primed makes him vulnerable to stress control, and obviously both Autothrusters and Push are critical. Better yet, he's painful to bring down to the point where a bid becomes meaningful, wheras it's pretty trivial to get a traditional Soontir/Inquisitor/Palp Shuttle build down to 95 points.

Kylo is going to be good. A fat Kylo build vs a list without the tools to deal with it will likely be a pretty rough match for the non Kylo player. But those tools - stress control, higher PS alpha strike, PS 9 arc dodgers with a bigger bid, etc. - will exist and keep the silencer from dominating the meta.

Why people insist on trying to slap PTL, advanced sensors AND primed thrusters on Kylo is beyond me. The very point of having advanced sensors and PTL is to perform double actions before performing a green maneuver and finishing the move unstressed, thus making primed thrusters irrelevant. On the other hand if you use advanced sensors but choose not to perform a green maneuver, you'll end up stressed but you're skipping the "perform action" step anyway, so PTs are once again useless. In fact, PTs could only be used if you either choose not to use advanced sensors at all or you want it just in case you get multiple stress tokens from an external source. Not using AS usually makes very little sense and advanced optics are probably a better safeguard against stress. Not to mention advanced optics improve your action economy considerably and have an obvious synergy with the kind of hit-and-run maneuver game that imperial aces excel at. Unless you really, REALLY can't afford another point in your list, I'd take advanced optics over primed thrusters any day.

I mean there's literally zero reason not to run Expose on a VT-49. You just gain more owie to dish out.

Except not really. 4 dice with no modifications gives you an expected result of 2 hits. If you just roll 3 dice but take a focus or target lock instead, you get 2.25. And you don't need an expensive talent to do that. The only way to make expose worth it would be to somehow stack a decimator with so many modifiers that it could change at least one eye to a hit or crit (like RAC), it could re-roll at least one die (like if you took Predator) and then put Expose on top of that. An imperial equivalent of Dengar crew would do the trick I guess but I don't see it coming any time soon.
