How to keep your Silencer points down?

Hey Everyone,

I have been tinkering with the Silencer and it seems I am struggling to keep the points down on Kylo. I think he is coming in at 42-46 points. I am not used to Imperials coming in at so many points. Is this the intended path with Silent Kylo? IE load him up and hopefully he kills more than his points? There is so much that can be done with the Silencer having a Tech and a System upgrade, but that's part of the problem too.

Most builds seem to be Silencer + 1, with the '1' usually being a Decimator, so I'm not shocked its that expensive.

It’s a benefit to the Silencer that it costs so much.

I think most storage solutions would have the silencer on its base still, keeping the points horizontal. There's less chance of damaging them that way.

Start at 40 pts. The PS7 Silencer might be the easiest of the bunch to fit in lists but 40pt Kylo kinda feels almost entirely worth the pts for what you get.

Personally most excited for the Kylo Cruise Vader Countdown list. Not super powered but solid enough and should be super fun. This is all before considering advanced optics. The palp list is probably the only near tier 1 list above.

but yeah, it's gotta fly that high point cost slot because empire is already swimming in low 30s aces. Far as I'm concerned, the Silencer just won't be worth it without leveraging its obscene arc-dodging capability with advanced sensors + dial + primed

Silencer is basically always gonna be expensive. At least if it's Kylo. The other pilots may be different. If the higher PS generic has an EPT we might see 3 Silencer's be a thing.

I'm actually excited to run this list. Don't be hating on expose... lol. Maybe change Optics into Primed Thrusters to have a bid.

I mean there's literally zero reason not to run Expose on a VT-49. You just gain more owie to dish out.

I would say it mandates you also get Experimental interface so you can get focus and target locks too, but yeah I think it can work on a Decimator. It's hella expensive of course, and probably only works with Kylo since you're going all out on two ships.

I think you just resign yourself to the fact that you'll be spending a fortune on it. It's an expensive chassis with great upgrade options that just make it even more expensive. It's like an E-wing: why would you ever take it for a budget build?

How can I answer this? I mean really, without knowing anything about the ship other than a few scant details, I can't make an informed decision.

How is the dial? That may reveal what upgrades might take precedence. What is the action pilot skill 7 ability, not just conjecture, so I can figure out from there.

Too many unknown variables to make an informed decision. This post seems to be jumping the gun, due to excitement about a potential leak of the ship. Unless you have one in hand, at which point I must ask, why aren't you spilling the beans?

I think a lot may also ride on if there is a generic with an EPT and how expensive it is. That would determine at least if a list of multiple cheap, but tricked out, Silencers would be any good.

Plan accordingly, it just feels odd to the imperial three-ship doctrine. ;)

I just want to make sure I am reading it right, but with Primed Thrusters if I am stressed, I can Barrel Roll then PTL for a Boost, gaining another stress, but maybe be out of arc or what ever.

Um? Points and slot opportunity? I am pretty convinced that vi gunner 1pt bid or palpatine for 1 more point is straight up better than expose experimental. Alternatively predator engine. Or expertise rebel captive. Or daredevil title on oicunn...

two in the pack, the left card gives it away as tech. advanced optics is part of the resistance bomber.

I reckon it's "Threat Tracker" and will let you do a free barrel roll or something if you end your maneuver near a bomb.

I brought him in at 39pts I think. Going much over 40 is a trap, he's not worth those points.

What build for 39 points?

A Score To Settle, Autothrusters, FCS/Title (your choice)

Jouster not a dodger, because dodging has never really worked anyway.

Indeed.

Thing is, the cheap generic doesn't feel like it gains much over a Lightweight Frame Zeta Specialist: you get boost but not the action economy or PS to really use it, any dial advantage and the option of autothrusters if you pay more points.

The Specialist comes 4 in a squad, so the generic silencer will need a sizeable kick up in potential to justify losing that 4th ship without the pilot skill and action economy of aces or ridiculous defences and jousting ability of generic /x7 defenders.

How to keep your Silencer points down?:

Simple, wait for the “-2pt + ability”- Silencer-title that will arrive in approx. 2 years from now in the “First Order Veterans”-box, and finally making the TIE Silencer competative.
