Question: How "Tier1" is the Tier1 still? It used to be that it was extremely more powerful than the Tier2 stuff, causing solid stratification. Nowadays, I think most of the Tier1 stuff is good, but not leagues above the Tier2 stuff.

While we're at it, we got a bunch of pilots but no proof. Exactly what are these meta builds you speak of?

There was a nice representation some while back where @Stay On The Leader had a closer look at tiers. It looks like this is not the case anymore and the squads are now closer again.

Well... right now, 4/10 of the top10 are imperial ships: Quickdraw, Vader, Scimitar Sqd and Omicron Group Pilot

4 are Rebel: Lowhhrick, Miranda, Zeb, Kanan

2 are Scum: Lok Revenant and Assajj

Old stuff making a comeback would be fun for like a month. But man, it sure was boring back then.

A lot more FUN ships and upgrades now, imo.

The ideal of a perfectly balanced meta is a myth. TIE swarms and Biggs walks the dogs used to run roughshod over everything back in the early days. There have been times where it was better or worse than average, but it's never been perfect.

If I were to vote for my favorite period it would probably be Wave 6. Scum had just come out but was not burdened by the later OP releases, The TIE Phantom was nerfed so the first PS war had ended, TLT and SLAM Bombers had not yet arrived, you could play a PtL ace and it didn't feel broken (since Palp hadn't come out yet either) or too weak. I remember going to Regionals that year and seeing an astounding variety of lists. Z-95 missile swarms, TIE swarm variations, Dash and Corran, Soontir and RAC, Bro-bots, double firesprays, Rebel B-wing swarms etc.

Of course, there were still problems. GC and EM hadn't come out so munitions were generally unheard of (unless you built your whole list around them), Bombs were utterly useless (hard to imagine now...), the empire had a pretty big roster of 'meh' ships that needed fixing (TIE Bomber, Defender, Advanced). Scum came out with a few DOA ships (StarViper and Scyck) and so it was basically the Bro-bots faction at tournaments.

As far as iconic ships go, it's all relative. Every ship is someone's favorite star wars ship that they have fond memories of from Rebels, a computer game, movie or a comic book. We need to accept that the Original Trilogy is now just one chapter in a larger franchise instead of the sole Holy Scripture like it was for decades.

Instead of complaining, I like that some people have stepped up to either create their own fan-made house rules or they are going out and hosting themed tournaments to put their favorite ships on the table and mix up the meta.

Tie bombers? I’m not sure I believe this. What tournament what place?

It‘s way too early to call it a meta is my point, it‘s still very much in motion, and not enough large tournaments have happened.

We're also in a "zombie" meta because the next wave is on the cusp of being released yet we're having multiple regionals occurring this weekend and next. You'll get your change, and it may not all be for the better

Hmm. I'm finding a severe lack of ships I want to just put in a squadron and play that for a long long time.

Wish I had my iconic Palp Aces back.

Maybe I should go back to triple defenders. But they're so boring with x7.

Then why are you making the statement that Scimitar Squadron Pilot belongs in the top 10?

I can understand Quickdraw, because everyone who is at least decent at this game knows she is the best imperial ship. But Scimitar and Omicron, where are you getting that from?

All meta is irrelevant right now until Dec 7th.

Then the Top 10 Ships will just be Gunboat and Silencer.
