Resisting Force power checks

By Ritalbringer, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hey guys,

P.283 of the rule book has a side note regarding how to deal with powers versus nemesis/rivals.

Could you please help me in providing, for each Force power, what would be the attacker/defender pool? Example from the book: Influence would be an opposed Deception/Charm roll.

Thanks!

For a lot of powers, there is an upgrade that allows you to perform opposed checks against a target (like the Mastery upgrade in the Bind tree which allows you to make opposed Discipline vs Discipline checks), those are a great way to start. For those which don't have that:

Misdirect: Deception vs Perception/Vigilance
Move: Discipline vs Discipline/Resilience
Unleash: Discipline vs Resilience
Sense: Perception vs Stealth
Ebb: Discipline vs Discipline/Resilience

The choice between Discipline and Resilience depends on whether you want the act of resisting to be more of a physical or a mental thing; when in doubt, just go with Discipline.
Hope this helps!

In some cases I would say Sense would still be Discipline vs discipline, like when you are trying to figure out the persons emotional state.

Regarding Influence , it's a bit confusing imo. The first Control level says Discipline vs Discipline, when the text p.283 advise to use Deception/Charm vs Discipline (which I find more logical). What do you think?

What about Seek , when used to track a prey? Same as Sense?

What is EBB ?

That text you mention is talking about social situations, so if you're influencing someone in a conversation with both your speech and the Force, you might wanna use Charm or Deception, while influencing by Force only would be the Discipline vs Discipline check.

Absolutely; perhaps you could even make a case for using Survival in that case.

Ebb is one part of the Ebb/Flow Force power from the Disciples of Harmony source book (page 38 and following).
