Happy Thanksgiving to a great community

By darkjawa103, in X-Wing

Just want to take a second to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for this great game we all love.

I am thankful for the GUNBOAT.

It can't be said enough times.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful that this is a great time to be around for all us Star Wars fans.

I’m thankful that the ISB has kept that Clone of Grand Moff Tarkin a complete secret.

I'm thankful for the game, for the great community and for the friendships I've developed because of it. I'm thankful that my father has gotten into the game so I can get him out and that we have something we can both throw some strategy into.

Thankful for the Gunboat. And thankful for the fact I am getting the chance to go to Adepticon in March.

Being on the right side of the Atlantic, I don't celebrate Thanksgiving. However, the X-Wing community is amazing, and long may it continue.

Right, as in correct, or right as in direction?

Direction, clearly. :-)

Just kidding, everybody.

The Star Wing arrived just in time for the holidays!

I shall declare today The Gunboat Day.

Tonight, brothers, when you put your playmat on the table, say a little pray for the Five-Winged Savior. And destroy those Rebel Scum with indiscriminate devastation!!

Yes.

Thanksgiving

Imperial Only.

Awww, sappy thanks.

Have a proton bomb!

Enjoy your day steeped in colonialism and genocide, by shoving bread up the cloaca of a dead sentient avian. Makes no sense to me.

I'm pretty sure Turkeys aren't sentient. I'm certain that, wherever you are in the world, there is a holiday with a despicable story behind it, that has come to mean something other than it's origin story. Just be thankful you don't (probably) live in Australia, where every public holiday has a brutally tragic backstory.

After watching the inexplicably early gunboat unboxing, I'm loving FFG for giving the game's (future) namesake the detailed modelling it deserves.

They are in the EU. Unfortunately we're not quite as enlightened in the UK (or, at least, the decision makers aren't) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-42083552

You must be real fun at parties.

Indeed, and sadly, most don't consider animals as sentient, only as property. This is often to justify the murder and torture inflicted.

It will depend on your view of consciousness and intelligence of course. To put a Star Wars spin on this, there are many in the empire that would not consider, say wookies, as sentient.

I consider them as food.

I'm thankful you guys still aren't as bad as the League of Legends community.

The indecency there is because Wookies have a lot of qualities that a rancor doesn't. You know the saying, "He's got the willpower of a rancor faced with a trough full of slaves". Sentience is an amalgamation of numerous aspects of the mind that must all be together in order for a being to be considered sentient. Turkeys lack free will. People (sometimes) make informed decisions based on the information at hand, but generally there's no predicting what a single person will do. Turkeys, on the other hand, universally follow instinct. There's no true "thought" going on, just an algorithm going through stimuli.

Torture is pretty much never okay, and the food industry is easily the biggest culprit of animal abuse in history, in particular the larger slaughterhouses and prisons high-capacity farms. "Murder" across species (not within the same species), on the other hand, has been going on pretty much forever. Whether it's right or wrong is kind of moot, given that an enormous majority of people support it.

On the other hand, we're arguing about turkey sentience on a forum for Star Wars ships, and it's not even in the off topic section...

Indeed, perhaps this whole topic has very little to do with the game, and should have been in the off topic from the get go.

Sentience, conciousness, and free will are not set in stone per se, as not everyone will agree to a set definition. There are many traits that humans can show that animals can as well. By your definition of sentience, human children are not sentient until a certain age.

But as to this debate, I will end it here, for now and we can go on about our plastic spaceships.
