Nope. I guess the Apple didn't fall too far from the tree on that one

As Giled said, your opponent can ask to use your tools so the rules already account for weird official products.

This is the issue FFG should expect when they use non standard measurements. I don't care if they use metric (should) or the ****** measurement system we use in the states(which I think is actually called "standard"). Them using proprietary nonsense is frustrating. It makes sense for movement in both x-wing and armada but measuring distances with it has always driven me nuts. The rulers are nearly 1 ft, doing the measurements in 4 in increments would have been SUPER hard.

I'd prefer cm actually, but yea this is an oversight by FFG. They could easily fix that by giving us a standardized measurement system in the next FAQ though.

::UPDATE::

I edited the post with the kit prizes so that the images show in the post and are correctly aligned.

Thanks!

I would LOVE them to be in CM but no one in the states knows how to use the metric system(I'm exaggerating, 99.9 % of americans don't know how, 0.1 % of us have a base idea because in the 80's someone had the thought that america could join the rest of the world in a universal system which is, of course, nonsense...'merica) but ya, US based company that's already adverse to using a sensible measuring system doesn't give me any hope they'd make the right choice. Even GW kowtows to the US audience in the states.

Hey, whoa now... I'm pretty sure Liberia and Myanmar stand with us on this one. So obviously the rest of the world is outvoted.

I believe they're pronounced " 'Beria" and " 'Yanmar".

Hahaha FFG do anything FAQ related easily. Yeah right. Quit making me laugh so hard I'm getting funny looks from people.

By that time America will have adopted, and claimed credit for, the metric system anyway.

Hey, it’s the imperial system, as in British empire and GW don’t cowtow to nobody.

we use the imperial system alongside the metric system in the UK, though the imperial system thankfully doesn’t really get taught any more. GW don’t use it because America, they use it because that’s a common system in the UK

Imperial, that's the term i was looking for, ty.

Do they use it in the UK too? I thought they'd(you guys?) had fully switched over to the metric and that GW games were actually in metric in Europe, but i haven't played 40k since 2014ish(whenever 7th edition came out, literally the day i quit).

Metric is the standard for all actual important and legal measurements, both in the UK and Canada, for example.

But as it is generally gobbledygook to anyone from the US, who are generally considered trading partners, the knowledge remains.

In short, Games are irrelevant and non-legal, so they do it that way.

Official response from GW on the subject has answered as both easier marketing in the US, to a desire to be “different”.

Corvus Belli, a Spanish company, builds and runs their games on metric, and requires translation to become US friendly.

It is silly and makes things more difficult for everyone else to maintain such outdated and imperialistic thought.

****, if Canada can go through a transition where both were legal AND TAUGHT EQUALLY, then thevUS could too.

but that’s the secret. The US doesn’t teach them on an equal footing, so, like Surds in general mathematics, there is no desire at the grassroots level to learn and apply. It’s got the impression of being only for an elite minority of people.

The truth is, yes, people around the world do kowtow to the US desire to maintain the British Imperial system of measurement.

it is an enforced ignorance on the rest of the world I would change in a heartbeat for the betterment of mankind.

Careful... This sounds treacherous. The Empire grants us security and order.

Is the best way to describe this country since the 80's.

You havn't known me as long as @Mikael Hasselstein .

I am pretty sure I was one of the first he demanded to be Taken away.

As a proper demonstration of the oh so powerful and efficient Imperial Military. I am still here .

Also. Traditionally, in RP and such:

I'm one of the grains of truth of why the Rebellion is deemed a terrorist organisation.

I get **** done .

No, there was another.

And he is no longer with us...

Do they have a Saw Gerrera (or Cham Syndulla) avatar that you could adopt? That would be apropos under the circumstances.

Edited by Mikael Hasselstein

Neither.

I'll stick with the Pallid Mask for the moment.

Somebody who's awfully eager to perpetrate the image of a loyal Imperial officer...

Methinks the man-machine doth protest too much.

I have no idea if anyone posted it already. But this is starting to become a really a bad joke about the range rulers from the regionals.

first pic: Left the regional one, in the middle the "fittting" one with the right length, and on the right the EC/NC.
second pic: On the right picture are the two "wrong" ones in direct compare. This is an extreme difference.

The good part: If you take the one that is too short, and the one that is too long, they are exactly two times as long as one with the right length

Unless, of course, you are in the United States military, which likewise uses metric. It's just those lazy civilian types.

Or you work in a factory that primary uses equipment not made in the US. Which is fine because I'm lazy and don't like using the annoying feactions that come from measuring in inches.

So what you are telling me is that if I play @Ginkapo I should insist I use my euros rulers and he uses his regional ones?

Excellent
