Here is another update, as well as a request for some advice (perhaps).
I finished off the piece I started in my last post.
After applying home-made wash to the the base coat:

Then dry brushing to brighten it up a bit and add some more texture:

And finally, a look at how we may use some of the various pieces I've created to make a 3x3 board. Add some of the barricades from the box and we've got a decent table for the core set I think.

Here is my issue - you might be able to see it in the above picture... but the newest piece is a bit darker than the others. In my older posts I mentioned that I used two washes - one was a redish hue. I didn't use that for this piece, for a couple of reasons, but now I am regretting it because the shade is a bit different. Now, on one hand, deserts aren't consistent colour for miles around, so I could use that argument. On the other though, it would be best I think if it all looked the same. Here is an example to the colour of my older pieces - compare this to the colour in the 2nd picture and hopefully its a bit easier to tell.

Anyway, given that I have already dry-brushed and everything, if I go back and try to use the two washes OVER my existing wash and drybrush, do you think that will be fine? It would mean I would have gone basecoat -> wash -> dry brush -> wash #2 (red) -> wash #3 (black again) -> re drybrush. Any issue with doing this to try and improve the colour? Or will I potentially make it worse?
