Arborec Flagship

Duha Menaimon: After you activate this system, you may produce up to 5 units in this system.

Am I reading this right, in that it has to happen immediately after I activate the system (ie. before moving), so this only works if I activate the system that it is sitting in?

Yes. Note that if you build GFs, they can build later. It's OK.

Speaking of, can the Arborec GF pool their resources in 4th ed? I.e. so that two GF can produce two new GF for 1 resource? Or do they still need 1 resource per producing GF?

If the latter, I assume the racial tech that increses their GF production limit to 2 is still available?

Pooling is allowed. It makes things so good for the plants. The upgrade is still there for 2 production (it also does everything a normal GF upgrade dies - +1 to combat and gene synth regeneration) but pooling makes it much less necessary.

TFW no Duna Menaimon to build me a GF.

EDIT: Or five.

sick joke

Sucks that you have to remain stationary to build, but amazing that you can pump out the GFs and then blossom them into even more stuff. Poof, instant fleet. 9/10 would spawn again.

Hmm, I missed where it was mentioned that the Arborec could pool the production from their Ground Forces. Where is that mentioned? Or did I just not read the racial abilities close enough? That's totally a possibility :P .

"Production" is a standard ability in the game, it’s just unusual for GFs to have it. In absence of something that says otherwise, Arborec GF production works no differently than any other.

Say round 1 I invade a dual system with a carrier and two groundforces. Landing 1 gf on each. If I spend 1 resource. What can I do?

a) 1 resource = 2 ground forces. The cost is split. I build 1 GF on each planet

b)1 resource = 2 ground forces. Production Capacity is Pooled. I build 2 GF on one of the planets

c)1 resource = 2 ground forces, while production capacity may be pooled for space, however it is said that infantry has to be placed on a planet with production capacity. Does the amount of production capacity matter? if it does then I can only build 1GF on 1 planet with 1 resource.

I think a) AND b) are valid

I'd go with A

b) but you caqn split the 2 produced GFs between planets however you wish: 2-0, 0-2, 1-1.

My reading of the TI4 Rules Reference, section 58.2, second bullet point/sub-clause, regarding the production of fighters and GF's,

"A player can choose to produce only one unit; however, he must still pay the entire cost."

and the second bullet point/sub-clause of 59.1,

"When producing fighters or infantry, each individual unit counts toward the space dock's production limit [[should probably read 'the system's production limit]]. If a player can only produce one unit but wishes to produce the aforementioned units, he may, but he produces only one unit despite paying the full cost."

TL;DR- you pool Arborec GF's and any other unit with the production ability's production values for your production *limit* in that system. It's still 1 resource for 1 GF until researching the racial unit upgrade tech "Letani Warrior II", which gives them each 2 production. I hadn't considered the reading of the Duha Menaimon as 'sitting still, then can produce out of turn', but I think that is the correct interpretation. And yes, if it was 5 GF, they would have the chance to build at the end step of that same Tactical Action.

so thats a) and b) .... just like i thought.
