How fast do Regionals Fill?

By CasoPrime, in X-Wing

Thinking about going to my first regional, the problem is I have a promotion going into affect Jan 1st, and not sure about the time off yet. The regional is the Team Covenant in Tulsa as it is the only with a 6 hour drive for me. Would I be safe to register mid January or should I go ahead and register and hope for the best on being able to go? Dates I believe are march 9-10.

I would register now. A lot of regionals fill VERY quickly

Register now. Nashville sold out in 3 hours without an announcement tickets were even available.

I will get it done today. I believe it is open to register now. I will take care of the Vacation day later. Thanks Guys!

Yeah I heard Chicago sold out in less then 24 hours (120 capacity).

Utah filled up less then 48 hours with a large waiting list. Utah is hoping to expand their capacity as it was limited to 42 or there abouts.

Most places should offer a refund if it turns out you can't make it.

I'm waiting to see if Utah opens up more space. I'm on the waitlist :-/

If you cancel within a few days (check with your hotel for exact number) you typically will lose your deposit. However, you should be able to re-schedule without any penalty. So if you reschedule for a date that is further out than the number of days where you'd incur the penalty, you'll be then be able to cancel without losing any money. Does that make sense?

In other words for example, if the date you can't make is April 1st and you'd lose the deposit if you cancelled within two weeks of that date, then you'd want to either cancel before you are within the two weeks or failing that, call and re-schedule the reservation for say July 1st, then cancel.

It's a neat work-around

Hmmm, skirting the system, sounds shady..... I like it.

I just registered for the Regional in Houston. Of 78 slots, only 30 are left. Not sure when tickets became available.
