Slight app problem: High idle CPU usage.

By Aelitafrommars, in Mansions of Madness

I've previously used it on my phone and fan-less laptop, but recently bought a newer laptop which can be "transformed" into a touchpad. Only thing is this is a fan cooled device. This is only a problem when software either is intensely working or has a high idle CPU usage so excess heat builds up over time. I've noticed the fans work increasingly fast/loud while the app is running to the point where it becomes louder than the ambient music set at a relaxing level. Maybe i had a bit of bad luck and got a laptop with noisy fans right out of the package, but anyway.

The task manager says the MoM app alone is running at 10% CPU usage on average when idle and so is the single most consuming thing when i'm not working. It might not seem much but it's apparently enough to build up excess heat in a couple of minutes.

While i hope there might be some tricks for the developers to reduce CPU usage while the app is idling that might sneak into the app eventually, do you guys know of any other tricks*, other than simply closing other software`?

*edit: sound ones, that is. I'm not too keen on meddling with the heat threshold for the fans.
