MODIFICATION: Reverse Orbital Maneuvering Thrusters

Reverse Orbital Maneuvering Thrusters

Small Ship Only Modification - One point

Front Side

After revealing a straight maneuver, you may instead perform a white one straight maneuver. Then flip this card.

Reverse Side

After performing a maneuver you may flip this card.

Or, after revealing a straight maneuver, you may instead perform a white one straight maneuver. Then receive one stress token and discard this card.

I thought of this after having those 1 straights taken away by the FAQ on Pulse Ray Shield. What do you think?

Edited by Boba Rick

Ryad would love this in certain situations.

I though this was gonna be "when you reveal a maneuver treat is as a Reverse maneuver of the same bearing" card.

Interesting for those who want to "brake" basically. The name is wordy though, you can just call it "Reverse Thrusters".

I agree it's wordy, but I googled space brakes and those are the real name!

Seems a little overpowered for high PS ships and conversely for low PS ones. It is the timing that makes it OP because of information. It is similar to the old pre-nerf decloak on PS9 Whisper; though not that OP...

Good feedback.

At what point cost would it not be OP?

It is not easy to price because it will only be OP for some high PS ships and barely effective in others.

Card abilities that grant information after the planning phase and allow the player make dial changes or adjust the ship position during activation are inherently hard to cost.

It also feels less like " playing X Wing ".

That said, to answer your question, you can easily put restrictions such as " PS X or lower only " to make it worth roughly 1 point.

Pulsed Ray Shield allows you to take an Ion Token to regenerate a shield. A lot of peeps (especially those flying Kihraxz fighters) were self ionizing even though their shields were full just to do a 1 straight the next turn. FAQ won't let us do that and it sucks because a 1 straight is great for trying to fire ordinance.

I am in the general agreement with the others; that you get to choose this at your PS level means it's going to be inherently dififcult to cost correctly, and then it'll be all but useless on everything else. :( Perhaps something a little wackier?

At the end of the End Phase, you may assign 1 ion token to your ship.

This is a terrible idea. Until it isn't. :D

Heck no it's not. I WANT THIS for my Kihraxz!

It made me think of this

Once per round when attacking you may assign 1 ion token to your ship OR you may remove a shield token from your ship, to roll an additional attack die.

It adds offense. It's great for jousters. It does what people want this game to do since forever. It's great for the Vaksai to please our Boba Rick friend. It's good for everything else. Maybe a bit too cheap.

Me likes it.

My first foray in a tournament from Rebels to Scum was with Kihraxz fighters.

It was bad, very bad.

Kath Scarlet uses this to get a 6-die buttshot for free the first time she does it. 7 with Opportunist. With rerolls if she pulls a green, plus a focus... might be a little scary. :P

But she can do a 5 die shot anyway? And she loses her mod slot used for repositioning. Or vi with opportunist. So if she gets you in arc at ps7 with no reposition, you might deserve it.

It's scary for sure, but not likely to trigger.

Ryad wouldn't care any more than anyone else. Her ability only works on moves on her dial.

The amount of times I would have loved to dial in a 1 straight instead of a 2 straight and bump is very high.

I'd usually prefer to dial a 5k and get my evade token, personally.

Well I prefer sitting in range 1 with my double tap. Potato- Pototo
