Imperial Fleet

By Lord Thallium, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So switching gears from my last fleet I have moved on to an Imperial Fleet as my opponents want to switch it up ao here is what I have come up with.

Thoughts?

Empire vs Justin
Author: Tyrelkills

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 393/400

Commander: Moff Jerjerrod

Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery
Defense Objective: Fighter Ambush
Navigation Objective: Intel Sweep

[ flagship ] Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points)
- Moff Jerjerrod ( 23 points)
- Avenger ( 5 points)
- Intel Officer ( 7 points)
- Veteran Gunners ( 5 points)
- X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points)
= 156 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)
= 28 total ship cost

Arquitens-class Light Cruiser (54 points)
- Reinforced Blast Doors ( 5 points)
- Turbolaser Reroute Circuits ( 7 points)
= 66 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)
- Repair Crews ( 4 points)
= 32 total ship cost

1 Lambda-class Shuttle ( 15 points)
1 Major Rhymer ( 16 points)
2 TIE Bomber Squadrons ( 18 points)
1 Colonel Jendon ( 20 points)
1 TIE Advanced Squadron ( 12 points)
1 Black Squadron ( 9 points)
1 Darth Vader ( 21 points)

Only suggestion I have is that the upgrades for the ISD need a second look. intel officer, XI7 and avenger have an anti synergy with each other, and vet gunner is an odd choice when boarding troopers exists for the slot.

If you want to run an Avenger ISD-1 boarding troopers and leading shots is really the way to go. Avenger ISD-2's like late activations, but the 1 variant wants to jump in close range and activate right away to do the most damage. You wont have a chance to naturally flip tokens and also take advantage of the most deadly dice.

I would opt for avenger, tua, ecm, boarding troopers, leading shots. Its roughly the same points (one less, actually), but the far far more effective flagship and gunship.

Not sure whether this was the "anti synergy" @BrobaFett was referring to, but XI7 and Avenger go together better than a lot of people seem to think; if you bring Suppressor to the table and position it right (costs the same as that repair crews, might I add), they can't really do much at all to defend, and it's not a close range single use either. Either way I totally agree on the rest of his recommended loadout; BTs, Tua +ECM and LS is the way to go.

I hadn't thought about Suppressor and Avenger together. I like it.

I played supressor with tua and ecm and an avenger for waves 3-5, its far harder to pull off effectively than it sounds on paper.

I would play a few games with it before taking it to competition.

I have the spare points from dropping the Instigator title (4 games and I’ve never used it), so I’m not giving anything up to put it in.

So this is what I ended up testing, Played 2 games with it had to very different results. Game 1 was Capture the VIP but the list didn't get a real test mostly because I destroyed my opponents MC80c on turn 2 and all he had left was 2 CR90s and a couple Squadrons. So he conceded the game as the ISD was in prime position to knock out his CR90s turn 3 and pick up the VIP. The seconded game was a far better test, We played most wanted which wasn't an ideal objective for me but it was better then the other options, I cleaned up his squadrons pretty quick and was able to keep his MC80c within the front arc of my ISD thanks to Jerry but do to some Mon Mothma shenanigans I had a hard time doing hard damage to him MC80c plus his RBs keep that thing floating, I ended up in a prolonged engagement with MC80c mostly sitting in the side arc, do to 2 criticals Capacitor Failures and Faulty Countermeasures the ISD died in a ball of fire on turn five, but the MC80c was in pretty rough shape but I wasn't able to get the kill in with the Arquiten.

I would completely agree with this Suppressor was extremely hard to get into position and didn't have much bearing on my overall games. So more testing required but Suppressor will be very situational and may be dropped from the fleet.

You need supressor sitting range 1 of the isd to the front, and within dis 3 of where the target will END ita maneuver, but not in a place where it will self ram the isd and lock it in place (unless that IS the goal, which I on purpose a ton with this list, looking like you are going to overextend the isd, and then ram it to do a speed 1 or 0 leaving yhe tua ecm right in front). Its a complex setup, and the payoff is usually just no brace on one ship. Its rarely the difference between winning and losing.

Imo putting slicers and tua ecm on it makes it an aggressive disruptor. Slicers eventual got cut but tua ecm was worth a lot against non-msu lists.

I probably should have mentioned it’s a difficult setup, and far from an auto-include. As BrobaFett pointed out, Tua and ECM really help with gutsy positioning, but that costs points. It’ll probably be more appealing with the Kuat Refit, which will have a harder time running BTAvenger without support.

Sounds like an interesting pair of games; Getting a win and a loss with a new list feels like the best of both worlds.:)I don’t know how much an average bid is in your area, but have you considered adding Needa to the TRC Arq? He’s cheap and really improves survivability at preferred range.
