The Partisan Obsession

By BlueMusketeer28, in X-Wing

What exactly caused this? They are never shown flying anything, they have 1 named character and he doesn't look like much of a flyer, and despite what people claim, they are not Scum. Why do people want this particular paint scheme so badly? I've seen partisan U-Wing requests, they don't even have those!

A.) Rebel ships don't normally have "edgy" paint schemes.

B.) Saw is one of the more interesting characters, delving into an "evil" or at least "gray" side of the Rebellion that hasn't been explored until recently.

The painting of the ships is awesome.

And the possibility of something like this:

Partisan U-Wing is in a two-part Rebels episode. It's kinda a pretty paint scheme, fairly "dazzle camo" style. I'm personally not super into it though. For X-Wing repaints, I'm greenish Phoenix squadron >>>>> Partisan > Blue Squadron (since the T-70 is a Blue Squadron, otherwise Blue > Partisan).

I don't watch Rebels, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong- but I seem to remember seeing Saw in some sort of transport and think it was a U-Wing. However, while I like the idea of the partisans dipping the rebels in some grey scale morality while leaving the main Alliance intact, I suppose that would still not make them Scum. FFS, have them be Rebels with some scummy abilities, leeching off of their friendly "take my token" allies.

As for X-Wings, we see some of those parked in front of Saw's fortress and one crashed in Jedha City, we also get to know their aerial strength (or rather, weakness) in some of the complementary work such as "Guardians of the Whills".

I like to see the Partisans, but as for Rogue One-themed X- and U-Wings, I'm voting Blue Squadron all the way. Anything else is a welcome challenge for the painters we got on this forum.

This would be an amazing title until about a week ago when Flight Assist Astromech was spoiled. That makes losing the Astromech slot hurt a lot more.

My God, I want Blue Squadron T65s and Y-wings.

There's OPA, and there's OPA oops wrong galaxy. :P

Saws group is very much scum, I mean they broke off with the rebellion to fight the empire on their own, there basically a group of mercenaries.

They don’t exactly play along with the other rebels either. Also Makes me wonder how many defectors before bohdi got an extended Boogalet therapy session.

They could very well be a sub-faction for scum, but I think they’ll need some more ships before we could consider them one if ffg went that route.

They could also be our first dual faction pilots that don’t need two expansions to make it that way. Just thinking of the Maul route, Saw could have a similar condition except maybe with Jyn or something.

Saw would be many of the Rebel or Scum only <crew> upgrades as we are going to end up with a dozen or so.

What I want is to see some more Imperial or Scum only upgrades released in the future. Maybe some Rebel or Imperial only but such dual affiliation seems so odd so I can only see coming from say a clone wars set up.

I think Saw and company would have to be Rebel, not Scum, based on motivation. The defining aspect of Scum isn't methodology, but goal. Scum is all about selfish goals (with the exception of the Protectors). The Partisans are totally anti-Imperial, and very much not about self preservation. You don't pick fights with the Empire unless you mean it.

Yeah.... If the partisans ever showed up they would have to be rebel faction with the 3 we have right now. Scum should not be the catch all bucket for everything not alliance or empire.

Honestly I don't see the need for one in particular, however if we did get them as a way to better fix the t65 so be it.

Wow, do you have any idea of what a mercenary is? Mercenaries are people like the bounty hunters, who fight for money. Saw's Partisans are nothing like this.

And just because they are not under the command of Mon Mothma, it doesn't mean they aren't Rebels. Their goal is the same: overthrow the Empire. Only the means are different.

This would be cool... too bad it's overpriced by 1 point ?

Black and white X-Wings? Sweet.

Might get really interesting now if it was -1 point. It no longer has access to "balancing" cards like Integrated Astromech. This would let you run 5 janky T65s, similar to the 5 Khiraxz list.

It's an honest to god camo pattern, canonically, on an X-Wing.

And listen, fighter nerds, we love our dumb paint-jobs and decals. Especially when you have precedent in the X-Wing novel series.

But we're not Japanese Otaku caliber obsessed:

Yeah, right. Not under the good graces of mon mothma, Saws group has to keep the food, fuel and credits flowing somehow. They can’t Robin Hood all of there resources from the empire.

I can do that.

Saw Gerrera, as an edgy Rebel on the fringe, is interesting. The paint scheme looks cool. Also, Edrio Two Tubes and Benthic are both mercenary pilots.

C.) Both ships need an update/buff, so the "Partisan Package" would be a logical way to see that happen. Add Saw, K-2SO, Door Gunner (?) and Blue Squadron Pilot(s) to the kit, and you could back fill some of the stuff they shoulda done for Rogue One.

Its Weeaboo Dazzle Pattern camouflage.

Anyone seeing that in combat would spend several seconds thinking, "What the **** am I looking at?"

Integrated Unhinged Astromech with Glitterstim for rookie pilot comes to 25 points. Running four would be quite good. But if the card was 0 points I think it would have to be generic pilots only.

Imperial defectors would qualify. Agent Kallus and Mara Jade come to mind. Finn wasn't really an Imperial long enough to qualify.

Anyone seeing that in combat is an idiot for not shooting it down several miles out, before it was in visual range.

Dengar, Manaroo? Ventress? Emon Azzameen? Fenn Rau? Old Teroch? That's like 1/4 of all the named scum pilots, right?
And someone might add IG-88 on top, droid rebellion, freeing the slaves and all. ;-)
