Do I need a second MC 80 Home One?

By mcworrell, in Star Wars: Armada

MC80 Home One is $20 on Amazon. Convince me that I need a second.

Cluster Bombs!

Double Pickle can be hilariously tanky... I got a seocnd MC80H as a gift after I'd already purchased my first on my own way back and I've personally never regretted it. Ocasionally, I've brought out the double Slaved Turrets or the double Redundant Shields...

I played two libs and a pickle in CC and it was a blast... I can only imagine the cheeky shiz you could pull with two pickles, home one, defiance, and ackbar seems like a decent place to start

I have two and can be useful at times.

I too have two, and though I don't fly them together regularly, they can be very fun. Getting one at half price is awesome! I'd do it for a third, but I have other ships that I have none or one of, so shan't for a while.

Couldn't resist and pulled the trigger. I have yet to fly my first Home One though....

It is very tempting. If it had just one upgrade card I was really in need of I would do it.

You know you need more Cluster Bombs.

If it exhausted instead of discarding maybe.

So sad that making it an exhaust instead of discard would still just make it a maybe.

It should hit all squadrons in an arc even if it had to drop a couple of dice to not be over powered it would make more sense.

It would see a h*** of a lot more use if that were the case.

Do you NEED a second Home One: No

Can you use a second one effectively: Yes

Here are the (relevant parts of) variations I’ve run recently (as 2xHome One is my default build):

-2xMC80A with projection experts, ECM, RBD, and Commander Leia. My opponent killed one after dealing 39 damage to it after using braces.

-2xMC80C with ECM, Dodonna, and 134 in squads. Add upgrades as needed. It is frustrating to face as it just has staggering HP.

-2xMC80A with QBT, LS, ECM, RBD, Intel Officer. One has Defiance and the other has Ackbar. A flotilla and Tycho/Shara/VCX in addition. It is a very fun fleet to run up the middle. If you start the actual Ackbar slash, it gets silly powerful.

For sure, its one of the erratas i would like to see along with Quad Laser Turrets changed to short range from 1.

I could get behind both of those changes.

I have three. I like pickles. :D

Recent pickle fact that blew my mind: I had ABSOLUTELY no idea that there is no such plant as a "pickle"; they're all just cucumbers.

You've never wondered why they were called pickles ?

Hey, you don't call pickled onions pickles. Or picked herring. Or pickled ginger. Or pickled cockles.

If they were called pickled cucumbers then there would be no confusion.

Even Macdonald's calls their gherkin "dill pickle slice".

I've been lied to all my life.

jsyk, 2 mc80 ackbar was an underrespected archetype until recently. Now its won a few tournaments. Its my go-to for hilarious face melting fun. Has some trouble with mass squadrons, but I recommend 6 squadrons and at least 70+ gives them some pause.

Yes, my advice is to buy a jar of them.

No.

you should buy two more and then run this amazing list:

Garm’s Three Way

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 400/400

Commander: Garm Bel Iblis

Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Solar Corona

[ flagship ] MC80 Assault Cruiser (114 points)
- Garm Bel Iblis ( 25 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
= 150 total ship cost

MC80 Assault Cruiser (114 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
= 125 total ship cost
