Solos or formations? My vote is leaning towards Scions being able to hold down and shoot.

Agreed. Scions win with focus fire, for certain.
Solo scions would have trouble wounding the golems though

To be serious, it of course depends on upgrades, formation, and how the trays are distributed. No super easy answers here. Also, some of these units are better against globs of infantry and preventing flanks than they are at taking out other siege units. It's a complicated, complex question with no one correct answer which is why I initially gave my silly response.
Well since literally ONE of these units can spit blight and use it to convert surges to mortal strikes without any upgrades, I think the answer is pretty self evident.
Yes, since one does not even have to bother with blight (which is easily removed) and can just rock up with a threat equal to the other's defense and just one shot it without a counter, then the answer is indeed self evident
