How to lose friends and influence aces.

By Kleeg005, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Seeing a slight uptick in Expertise and various Aces in my local meta. This looks cruel as a response. But is there anything I can do to tweak it a little better? As a response, is it a little too nasty?

Auzituck Gunship: · Lowhhrick (28)
Lightning Reflexes (1)
Tactician (2)
Gunner (5)
T-70 X-Wing: · Nien Nunb (29)
Snap Shot (2)
· R3-A2 (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)
· Black One (1)
Primed Thrusters (1)
ARC-170: · Thane Kyrell (26)
· R2-D6 (1)
Tactician (2)
Alliance Overhaul (0)
· A score to settle (0)
-- TOTAL ------- 100/100p. --

As a general list, seems fine. I'm a Predator/Breach/Tactician Auzituck fan, but that's personal preference.

As to Thane, I don't really love A Score To Settle. With the way his pilot ability works, he'll often get an extra action, so he'll have Focus/TL. In which case, getting the soft-focus from ASTS seems weak, and the drawback of extra crits for your opponent seems scary to me. It also works opposite the goal of using Tacticians to shut down their action economy. Giving them a free soft-focus when you've invested in stress to shut down Expertise and actions seems wrong. On ARCs, I'm highly tempted by R5 Astromech, a card which seems mostly forgotten. With high hull and low agility, it seems like you might get a fair share of Ship crits to flip face down. Flight Assist Astromech might be hard to trigger with a rear arc, but it'd also be worth considering once released.

dont post hungry and at work. thigns go wrong

I was thinking a similar concept for the same reasons. I think yours is more versatile than mine for sure:

Nien Nunb (29)
Snap Shot (2)
R3-A2 (2)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Warden Squadron Pilot (23)
Extra Munitions (2)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Tactician (2)

Your has more maneuverability and I think better late game offense. My K-Wings would be useless after the harpoons have been launched.

I like the concept. ****, I just love stress lists in general. Nien isn't my fav Stressbot carrier, but I recognize his potential. I agree that Thane is not superb in that setup. I'd ditch the EPT droid, use R7-T1 maybe? Honestly there's a million ways to Thane. And I'd drop down to a liberator. Lightning reflexes is a fine choice there. However, I might ditch that gunner and use Rey to boost your offense more reliably.

What if you ditched Thane and used Eaden Vrill? Just a thought.

Getting a Roark in there so you can shut down the Expertise before it ever finds use might be worth considering.

I have seen a friend of mine run this recently and he's kicking butt with it, although I haven't played against it.

Auzituck Gunship: •Lowhhrick (35)
Expertise (4)
Breach Specialist (1)
Tactician (2)

Auzituck Gunship: Wookie Liberator (33)
Expertise (4)
Tactician (2)
Breach Specialist (1)

ARC-170: •Braylen Stram (32)
Alliance Overhaul (0)
Gunner (5)
•R3-A2 (2)

Total: 100/100

To avoid getting out maneuvered, he spends the first few rounds fortressing and then opens up, if it works, it's brutal.

You are absolutely correct. I completely missed that interaction, ha ha. I take your point about R5 as well. Except that I don't have him. Sacrilege? Maybe.

Ah, but with Tactician/Gunner and no attack mods, I get the chance to double stress very frequently. And that's the impetus behind the Nien build as well: flown properly, Snap Shot allows him to double stress someone. Thane is, to a certain extent, the weak link - but he's still a dual firing arc Tactician carrier. As to Lowhrrick vs. Liberator: his pilot ability is so good. But the extra points would allow for better shenanigans. But his pilot ability is *so* *good*.

It took me over a year of playing before I bought either the TIE Fighter or X-Wing expansions. :P

I'm sure R2-D6 + Trick Shot would work fine. If there were a point to spare, BB-8 or Vectored Thrusters would also be sweet.
