Starhawks - Again

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

I have been recently reminded about the Starhawks. It's starting to become painfully obvious that they STILL haven't revealed what exactly these things look like! No official art for them yet? What's up with that?

Anyone have any idea what's the hold up here?

They have to make the Corvus first!

A second rate concept from a third rate game.

I don’t see what the big deal is.

Even the most negative reviews seem to acknowledge that the game is at worst "merely" good one you get rid of the microtransaction bullcrap. I like the Raider, and I love that the Corvus has given a canon interpretation to appreciate. I even appreciate the refit version (spoilers?) with the extra armor.

And, btw, microtransactions have been removed by EA yesterday, for game balance purpose.

Anyway, the game is very good, and the solo campaign thrilling.

*Temporarily* removed.

To quote Pulp Fiction, lets not start suckinging easy others ***** just yet.

Dear lord, please don't tell me the Rebellion is going to steal another Imperial ship. Sabine's TIE Fighter is nice as a novelty with unique pilots, but getting a Raider?

On the other hand, the only ship that the Rebellion would probably want less is the Gozanti. No Rebel commander is eager to trade their dirt cheap flotillas for "Armament". Raiders will grant the Rebellion cheap one-shot firepower at the expense of a very fragile platform. It could even be workable now that Rieekan isn't all-encompassing.

Sorry, never owned or played any of those games you refer to. I don't even have a console.

I got it from the books, same place i thought the Starhawk is from.

Well, we've seen at least three new Rebel capital ships in final full 'The Last Jedi' trailer - presumably the Starhawk is one of those. (Not the Mon Cal-looking ship, which we now know to be the 'Raddus')

...or from the same scene...

I was mostly in jest, and mostly deriding the way BF2 is being treated online right now via EA.

I can’t play FPS games anymore, and thus won’t likely see it.

i think more than anything, I was disappointed when I heard the Corvus was different... That the standard raider wAsnt good enough to make it full canon in depiction as well as name.

It makes a standard canon appearance, its later changed for story purposes.

fixed, these arent rebel ships anymore :)

I'm not convinced those resistance ships are the same Starhawks from the battle of Jakku.

Still though, BF2 is very enjoyable. I've streamed the entire campaign on my channel for those of you who are interested but cannot or will not play it.

And the Corvus (Upgraded) needs to be an Imperial Refit IMO - Rebels have too many small ships already. Empire desperately needs more.

I actually really enjoyed the campaign, and the game in general.

I think being an Armada player adds a little extra to it.

slight spoilers

There's a mission where you have to defend the Corvus from waves of bombers in the wake of the DS2 explosion. As an Armada player it's cool to see the fragile nature of the raider translated into another medium.

Or the mission where a liberty shows up to attack a docked ISD, by the end of it, the liberty takes a medium range shot from the ISD to the side hull and just pops.

Stuff like that

That makes me happy as I have been debating picking up my preorder copy or just cancelling it....

No commentary on the whole micro transactions thing, but 'campaign' is stretching it. It's a short story, added to a PvP game and although I hear it's a very good short story, EA/Dice calling it a campaign is stretching it :-)

I put in a good 6 hours my 1st play through. Really no worse than most FPS games that have a campaign these days.

And I do believe the next DLC is going to expand the storyline as well up to the First Order timeline.

I disagree. My Gozantis have wracked up quite the kill count. The best one was when it have Demo in the side arc and a Motti Vic in the front with a CF on the dial. Demo was at 1+1 and the Vic at 0+2 with no Brace or shields. Gozanti CF into 2 damage to kill the Vic and rolled 1 damage against Demo. Gozantis are amazing if you know how to use them. I'd gladly pay the extra 10 points over 2 GR-75s to run them with Sato or Dodonna.

I'll add Ackbar to that list.

.

I think it's slightly more likely that the blade-ship in the above image, to the right of the Mon Cal ship, is a Nebulon-K - a ship the First Order (and possibly the Republic as well) use.

lol, clearly others disagree :)

I don't have any amazing stories about Gozanti performances. I use their Battery only in desperation, mostly for AA shots, and the sole purpose of the ship was to either command fighters or ferry a support upgrade. If that's all you want/need... then the Gozanti is overpriced. I forgot there are exploits like Ackbar out there to suddenly turn a fleet of Gozantis into something worse than corvette swarms- but swarming Gozanti prevention is why flotillas that ram things are the only ones to take damage. Mostly when I compare flotillas I'm always envious of the cheaper rebel ones, because I would rather save points to give to my heavier ships... which are already expensive.

I just run Comms Net and it follows behind my Vic II. Whatever happens to get past the Vic is taking a double arc CF shot from the Gozanti. It's consistent and I'd say most (75%+) of my games have my Gozanti attacking around round 4/5.

If you're only using them to push fighters and as a support ship, I'd say you aren't using them to their full value. They have dice. Use them.

^This. As a solely rebel player until recently I keep forgetting my transports have guns, even though I've lost more than enough ships to them in the past.
