"Stranger Thing" style Skirmish Idea

By aceckert, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

This may be sound stupid, but I am toying with the idea of creating a skirmish with a "Stranger Thing"-esque upside-down design. This will likely require at least 2 sets core tiles.

Build 2 of the same maps and then flip one over. Generally, this will mean forest spaces on one are desert on the other, and gleaming imperial hallways are old and rusty on the other. Maps will also be mirrored layouts.

Neutral tokens are portals between the 2 sides.

That is about as far as I have gotten. maybe being on corresponding spaces on each map has a positive or negative effect. Maybe damage to the character on one map heals the character on the flip-side. Or maybe they are just considered adjacent.

I've only given this about 5 minutes of thought, but think it could be fleshed out.

This sounds like a scenario for force users.

True. Maybe all force users get a push action to move someone on the other side. Maybe if you have a rebel on one map you put a rebel token on the other maps corresponding space for reference.

Maybe Obi-wan and Vader are the only ones in the upside-down. Maybe when you die on the one map you move to the other map and have actions you can take.

I was thinking maybe the upside down is the future (after the current site has been abandoned for decades and the forest is long dead etc.) and only force users can see into the future.

Only force users can draw line of sight or be considered adjacent (when attacking) from one map to the other,

Also. Monsters. Maybe get an actual 80's lead demogoron mini.

if you don't want to buy minis but want some sort of strange creatures in the upside down, use wampas and nexu, give them abilities from command cards they wouldn't normally get added as abilities to their deployment cards like maybe some of the Force ones...Deflection would be cool, weird Nexu that have blaster bouncey hides. Meditating Wampas would definitely be something in the Star Wars upsidedown.

Wouldn't the upside down Star Wars: IA universe have Star Trek minis in it? :)
